Marantec access control for garage doors and gates

Marantec access control is how you open a Marantec door without a handset in your pocket — a keypad by the gate, a key switch on the wall outside, a push-button station inside the garage, or a receiver that adds all of it to an opener that never had radio. We supply the Marantec range in Oman from our shop in Al Khuwair, Muscat, and our engineers fit it.

The point of a fixed control over a handful of remotes is that it cannot be left in the other car. A keypad works for anyone you give the code to, a key switch works for anyone with the key, and neither runs out of battery in a hot car park.

Check your frequency before you order anything

This is the one thing that decides everything else, and it is where almost every Marantec accessory order goes wrong. Marantec themselves say the operating frequency of your opener is the most important factor when choosing a wireless accessory. There are three bands and they do not talk to each other.

FrequencyWhich openersWhat you can add
315 MHzM-Line, Q-Line and Synergy — M4500, M4700, M4900, M55, Q7500, Q7700, Q7900, Synergy Solo and 260 to 380Current keypads, wall stations and remotes
868 MHzCurrent European Marantec drivesDigital 520 wall switch, 2-channel radio pushbutton, key switches
433 MHzOlder export and European openersDiscontinued. Add a plug-in receiver instead — see below

Two quick ways to tell what you have. If the opener was made in 2004 or later it is almost certainly 315 MHz. If the aerial wire disappears into a hole in the motor head rather than hanging loose, it is an older band and will need an external receiver. If you are still unsure, send us the serial number from the sticker on the side of the motor head and we will look it up.

Older Marantec openers, and the 433 MHz problem

If you have an older Marantec opener in Oman, there is a good chance it runs on 433 MHz — and Marantec’s 433 MHz keypads are discontinued with no direct replacement. That is not the end of the opener. The answer is a plug-in receiver set, which gives the opener a current radio and lets you add a modern keypad, wall station or remote to a motor that is otherwise working perfectly.

It is usually cheaper than replacing the opener and it takes an hour. We would rather sell you a receiver than a motor you do not need.

Supply and installation across Oman

A keypad or key switch is a short job — mount it, pair it or wire it, set the code, test it. Most of the time is spent choosing the right spot.

Position matters more here than the instructions suggest. A keypad on a west-facing wall takes direct afternoon sun, and sun kills keypad legends faster than use does, so we mount them shaded where the site allows. Sand and dust are the other reason to favour a sealed unit over a cheap one. We cover Muscat, Sohar, Nizwa, Salalah, Sur and Duqm.

Common questions

How do I know which Marantec keypad fits my opener?
By frequency, not by model year. Check the back of an existing remote — if it says 315 MHz, the current keypad range fits. If it says 433 MHz, or there is no remote to check, send us the serial number from the motor head.

My old Marantec keypad has failed and I cannot find the same one. What now?
If it was a 433 MHz unit, there is no like-for-like replacement — Marantec discontinued that band. A plug-in receiver plus a current keypad does the same job on the same opener.

Can more than one person have their own code?
The keypad holds several PINs at once, so you can give the cleaner a different code from the family. One catch worth knowing before you set them: clearing codes clears all of them together, so you re-enter the ones you are keeping.

My opener has no receiver at all. Can I still add a keypad?
Yes. A plug-in receiver set adds the radio, and the keypad, wall station or remotes then pair to that. It is the standard route for any Marantec opener old enough to have no radio of its own.
