OMR 9.423Access control systems in Oman, supplied and installed
We hold every part of a door entry system on the shelf in Al Khuwair, Muscat β card readers, controllers, magnetic and electric locks, exit buttons, power supplies and RFID cards β and our own engineers fit them across Oman. Individual parts start at OMR 1 for a card and run to OMR 118 for a four-door controller.
Most suppliers here quote projects. We sell parts as well, so you can buy one magnetic lock for a store room or specify twenty doors for an office block, and you can see what each costs before you call anyone.
What one door actually costs
Access control is not one box. A working door is five or six separate components, and this is which of ours does what.
| What it does | What we stock | Price from |
|---|---|---|
| Reads the card or code | RFID readers, keypad readers, metal reader, IP68 outdoor standalone | OMR 9 |
| Decides who gets in | Single-door panel, 1, 2 and 4-door controllers, door-alarm controller | OMR 29 |
| Holds the door shut | 180 kg and 280 kg magnetic locks, double-door maglock, electric strike, bolt and rim locks | OMR 18 |
| Fits the lock to your door | ZL bracket for inward-opening doors, U bracket for frameless glass | OMR 9 |
| Lets people out | Plastic, stainless, mini, lockable and touchless exit buttons | OMR 6 |
| Powers it all | K80 12 V 3 A supply | OMR 23 |
| The credential itself | RFID thin and thick cards | OMR 1 |
A single standalone door comes to somewhere between OMR 60 and OMR 90 in parts, depending on which reader and lock suit it. Add cable and fixings. Installation is quoted separately after a free survey.
Standalone reader, or reader plus controller?
This is the ordering mistake we correct most often, and it is worth two minutes before you buy anything.
A standalone unit holds its own list of valid cards and switches the lock itself. One box, one door, finished. Our IP68 outdoor unit works this way, and it is the right answer for a villa gate or a single office door.
A Wiegand reader does not. It reads the card and passes the number to a controller β on its own it will not open anything at all. Two of our readers say so in the product title for exactly that reason. Pair one with a 1, 2 or 4-door controller when you want an entry log, or when several doors share one user list.
Standalone is cheaper and simpler. Do not buy networked capability you will never sit down and configure.
Which lock suits your door
The door decides the lock, not the budget.
Magnetic locks mount on the head of the frame and hold by electromagnet, so they need a flat frame to sit against. A ZL bracket solves an inward-opening door; a U bracket solves frameless glass. 180 kg is enough for an internal office door, 280 kg for an external or heavier one, and there is a double version for a pair of leaves.
An electric strike replaces the keep in the frame you already have and keeps your existing latch β the cheapest retrofit on a timber or metal door. An electric bolt is the frameless glass answer. A rim lock mounts on the surface and is the usual choice on a gate.
What happens in a power cut
Worth knowing before you choose rather than after. A magnetic lock releases when it loses power. That is by design and it is exactly what a fire exit needs β but it also means a maglock on its own will not keep a door secured through an outage.
Where a door has to stay locked with the power off, we use a strike or bolt in the fail-secure configuration, or put the magnetic lock on a backup supply. We will tell you which yours needs at the survey.
Where we install
Villas, apartment blocks, small offices, shops and showrooms, warehouses, clinics, schools, compound gates and staff entrances. A single door takes about half a day β we survey, run the cable, mount and weatherproof the reader, wire the lock and exit button back to the controller and power supply, then enrol the cards and hand over the admin.
Weatherproofing matters more here than the spec sheets suggest. A reader on a west-facing wall takes direct afternoon sun, and sun fades keypad legends faster than use does, so we mount them shaded where the site allows. Dust is the other reason to favour a sealed unit. Access control installation in Oman covers Muscat, Sohar, Nizwa, Salalah, Sur and Duqm.
Common questions
How much does a door access control system cost in Oman?
Parts for one standalone door come to roughly OMR 60 to OMR 90 β a reader, a lock, an exit button, a power supply and cards. Multi-door systems cost less per door because one controller serves up to four. Installation is quoted after a free survey.
Do I need a controller with my card reader?
Depends on the reader. A standalone unit needs nothing else. A Wiegand reader does nothing without a controller β ours say so in the product title, so check before you order.
Will my magnetic lock stay locked in a power cut?
No. Magnetic locks release without power. If a door must stay secured, we fit a fail-secure strike or bolt instead, or add a backup supply.
I have a frameless glass door. Which lock fits?
A magnetic lock with a U bracket, or an electric bolt made for glass. Both are stocked. Send a photo of the door and frame and we will tell you which.
Can one card open the office door and the gate?
Yes, if both are on the same controller or both readers are enrolled with the same card. It is the usual arrangement on a compound and costs nothing extra in hardware.
Do you supply parts only, or do you install as well?
Both. You are welcome to collect parts from the shop and fit them yourself, or we survey and install. Most small offices take half a day.
