A single-door electromagnetic lock with 180 kg of holding force, roughly 350 lbs. That figure is pull strength on the armature plate, not door or gate weight. It suits interior pedestrian doors, offices and glass entrance doors, and needs a 12 V supply and a release device, both quoted separately. In stock at our Al Khuwair shop in Muscat.

Description

A magnetic lock holds a door shut with an electromagnet. The 180 kg figure is holding force, not door weight, and equals roughly 350 lbs of pull. We stock this magnetic lock in Oman at our shop in Al Khuwair, Muscat.

Where a 180 kg magnetic lock fits

This size suits interior pedestrian doors: offices, storerooms, glass entrance doors and light timber doors. It is not a gate lock. Driveway gates and heavy external doors need 280 kg or 500 kg holding force. A maglock is rarely the right choice on a swinging vehicle gate at all.

Match the holding force to the door, not to the door’s weight. A heavy door does not need a stronger magnet. A door someone might shoulder does.

What’s included

The lock body and armature plate. Fixing screws and a rubber gasket are normally in the box. Z and L brackets for inward-opening doors are quoted separately, as is the 12 V access control power supply this lock runs from.

Installing the magnetic lock

The lock body mounts to the frame head. The armature plate mounts on the door leaf, facing it, with a little play so the two faces meet flat.

Wire it to a 12 V supply through your controller or exit button. The magnet holds while powered and releases when power is cut. That means the door unlocks in a power cut, which is what fire regulations expect on an escape route.

Common questions

Will it hold a 180 kg gate?
No. The rating is pull force on the armature plate, not gate weight. Ask us before fitting one to any gate.

What happens in a power cut?
The door unlocks. Maglocks are fail-safe by design, so plan for a mechanical override on doors that must stay secure.

Do I need a separate power supply?
Yes. The lock has no supply of its own and draws current continuously while locked.

Does it need an emergency release?
On any escape route, yes. A break-glass unit or emergency release button wired into the supply is standard practice.

We also stock RFID thick cards for the readers that release this lock, and the wider access control range in Oman.
