RFID Metal Access Control Keypad in Oman | Outdoor IP68 Standalone
A metal-bodied RFID access keypad rated IP68 for direct outdoor mounting — rain, dust and Muscat’s summer heat included. Card, PIN, or both together, with no separate controller needed. Held in stock at our Al Khuwair shop and fitted across Muscat by our own engineers.
Description
This RFID metal access control keypad is built for a door or gate that sits outside — a zinc alloy case rated IP68, sealed against rain and dust rather than just splash-resistant. Like our plastic-bodied keypad, it is a standalone unit: present a card, enter a PIN, or use both together, and it switches the lock itself with no separate controller required.
Metal or plastic — which one for your door
Choose this metal unit for anything mounted outdoors and exposed to weather — a gate pillar, a compound entrance, a warehouse roller door. The plastic keypad is the better fit indoors, in a lobby or on a covered entrance, where the extra sealing and the metal case add cost without adding anything you need. Both read the same 125KHz EM cards and both work without a networked controller.
Built for Oman’s climate
IP68 means sealed against sustained water contact, not just resistant to a splash — it can sit on an exposed pillar through the wet season without a housing or canopy. The metal case also holds up to direct summer sun in a way a plastic keypad’s keys and backlight do not over several years.
How many people can use it
Units in this class typically hold around 2,000 users, added and removed from the keypad itself with a master code — no software or PC needed.
Fitting it
Wires to a magnetic lock or electric strike and a power supply, the same as any keypad in this range. On a maglock door we also fit an emergency door release on the escape side.
Common questions
Can this be mounted directly outside with no shelter?
Yes — the IP68 rating means it is built to sit exposed to rain and dust, unlike a standard indoor keypad.
Do I need a separate controller?
No. This is a standalone unit and switches the lock itself. A controller is only needed if you are networking several doors together.
Is it worth paying more than the plastic keypad?
Only if the door is genuinely outdoors and exposed. Indoors, the plastic unit does the same job for less.
