Check your tubular motor before buying this rolling shutter tubular controller

This board switches 220V AC out and nothing else. If the tubular motor inside your roller is a 12V or 24V DC unit, this controller will destroy it. The two types look identical from outside the tube, so read the label on the motor lead before ordering.

There is a second gap you should know about. The supplier publishes no output current or motor power rating for this board, which is the single figure that tells you whether it can carry your motor. Send us the wattage printed on your tubular motor and we will confirm the match in writing before shipping, or supply a contactor stage if the motor is too large.

It is also a tubular motor board specifically. It is not designed for a side mounted shutter motor, a central motor or anything three phase. Those need different control gear, listed with the rolling shutter motor range.

What a 220V AC tubular motor control board actually does

It replaces a plain up and down wall switch with a full control system. The board takes 220V AC in, switches 220V AC out to the motor, and carries its own 433.92 MHz radio receiver so no separate receiver box is needed.

On top of open, stop and close you get an adjustable journey time, an auto close timer, an over current cut out and a photocell input. It also holds up to 30 remotes, which suits a workshop or a shared entrance where several people each need their own transmitter.

433.92 MHz and EV1527, what the shutter controller coding means for security

The receiver works on 433.92 MHz with EV1527 coding. That is a learning code, not a rolling code, and the difference matters more than most listings admit.

A learning code transmitter sends the same fixed signal every time. It pairs easily and it is cheap to replace, but it can also be copied by an inexpensive duplicating remote held near your transmitter. For a domestic garage or an internal store room that is an acceptable trade. For a shopfront holding stock overnight, pair it with a lock or a shutter bolt and do not rely on the radio alone.

Practically, it means the board will not learn a rolling code remote from a branded system. Buy transmitters that match, from the remote controls range, or send us the code printed on the back of your existing remote and we will tell you whether it will pair.

Running time and auto close limits on this rolling shutter controller

Two settings on this board are also ceilings. The maximum running time is 120 seconds, so a shutter whose full travel takes longer than two minutes will be cut off part way. Time your door before you order. Almost every shopfront and domestic garage is well inside this, but tall warehouse curtains on slow motors are not.

The auto close timer runs from 5 to 120 seconds. Set it long enough that a vehicle clears the opening, and never run auto close without a working photocell fitted. A shutter that closes on a timer with no beam across the opening is a genuine hazard, not a convenience.

The board takes a photocell pair on its safety input, and that is the part that protects people. A beam across the opening stops and reverses the curtain before anything is touched. Photocells are listed under accessories.

The built in obstacle detection is a different thing. It watches motor current and reacts when the curtain meets resistance, so it protects the motor and the door from a jam. It reacts after contact, not before it, so treat it as mechanical protection and fit the photocell separately for people.

Note also that the accessory terminal supplies 12V DC. Many photocell pairs run on 12V to 24V, so check yours, and budget for a small separate power supply if the board cannot carry the current your sensors draw.

The board mounts indoors, close to the motor, and never on an exposed wall. No weather rating is published, and an unrated board on a shopfront in Muscat or Sohar will take dust and driven rain within a season. Inside the shutter box or inside a separate rated enclosure are both fine.

Isolate the supply at the board before any cover comes off, and have a qualified electrician terminate the mains side.
