The 330Nm rolling shutter motor in this listing is a single phase industrial tubular drive for large roller shutters, warehouse doors and factory entrances. Before you order it, read two figures. The duty cycle is S2 4 minutes, which means four minutes of running and then a cool down, not all day operation. And the 92mm figure is the motor body, not your shutter tube, so it will not fit a domestic shutter.

The S2 4 minute duty cycle, read this before you buy

S2 4 minutes is a short time rating. The motor runs from cold for up to four minutes, then needs to cool before the next long run. A typical industrial shutter takes 20 to 40 seconds to travel, so a handful of openings in a row is fine.

Where it fails is repeated cycling. A loading bay shutter opening and closing every two minutes through a delivery shift will heat soak, trip the thermal cutout and stop mid travel. If that describes your door, tell us and we will quote a continuous rated drive from the rolling shutter motor range instead.

92mm is the motor barrel, not your shutter tube

This is the single most common ordering mistake on tubular motors. The 92mm measurement is the outside diameter of the motor tube that slides inside your shutter roller. Your roller has to be larger than that, and the supplied adaptor set has to match its profile.

Domestic rolling shutters in Oman usually run 60mm or 70mm octagonal tube. This motor will not enter them. Measure the inside of your existing roller before ordering, or send us a photograph of the shaft end and we will confirm it.

170Nm, 230Nm, 330Nm and 450Nm look identical

Four motors share this body, this 92mm diameter and this photograph. Only the torque changes. Torque is chosen by curtain weight, not by door width, so a narrow but heavy insulated slat curtain can need more torque than a wide light one.

If you are replacing a failed motor, quote us the torque stamped on the old rating plate. Guessing upward costs money, guessing downward burns the motor out.

Power supply and wiring in Oman

At 3.80A this motor needs its own protected circuit, not a spur off a lighting or socket ring. We fit it on a dedicated breaker with an isolator within sight of the shutter, which is what an electrician will expect to find at handover.

Starting current is higher than the running figure, so a shared circuit with other machinery will nuisance trip. If your building already has the shutter on an existing supply, we will test it before connecting.

IP44 and the Oman climate

IP44 means protection against splashing water from any direction. That is fine for a motor sitting inside a shutter box or under a canopy, which is where almost all of them live. It is not a rating for a barrel mounted in open weather.

Coastal installations in Sohar, Sur and Salalah carry salt in the air and reach the motor through the shutter box. We check the box seal and the cable entry on every coastal fit, because a motor that fills with damp salt air fails long before its bearings wear.

Will this motor fit my roller shutter? Only if your shutter roller is an industrial tube large enough to take a 92mm motor body. It will not fit the 60mm or 70mm octagonal tubes used on domestic and small shopfront shutters.

What does the S2 4 minute duty cycle mean in practice? It means the motor can run for up to four minutes from cold, then needs to cool down. It suits shutters that open and close a few times a day, not a door cycling continuously through a shift.

Can this motor be installed outdoors in Oman? It is rated IP44, so it must sit inside a shutter box or under cover. It is not suitable for a barrel left exposed to direct rain or washdown.

Does it come with a remote control? No. The box contains the motor, adaptor set, brackets and manual only. A control panel, receiver and handsets are ordered separately.
