Description

The BFT LUX is a hydraulic swing gate motor for gates up to 300 kg and 2 metres wide, rated for very intensive use. It shares the hydraulic principle with BFT’s larger GIUNO Ultra BT A50 but is not a smaller version of it, the weight class, control board and locking method are all different.

The point worth understanding before ordering is the locking. LUX uses a solenoid lock, and its release is stated as reversible. That combination means the gate can likely be pushed open by hand once the solenoid disengages, whether deliberately or during a power loss, unlike a mechanical lock that stays engaged regardless.

BFT LUX solenoid lock, what reversible release actually means for security

A solenoid lock holds the gate shut electrically while powered. If that power is removed, whether by design for manual release or by an outage, the reversible mechanism allows the gate to be pushed open. This differs from ATHOS and KUSTOS, which lock mechanically and stay locked with or without power.

On a light gate where automation is about convenience, this is a normal design choice. On a gate protecting anything valuable, ask us whether an electromechanical model with mechanical locking suits the site better.

Very intensive duty and IP57 in the Omani climate

IP57 is a strong rating, covering full dust protection and temporary immersion, and the plus 60°C ceiling suits a hydraulic system running hard through a Muscat or Duqm summer. As with any hydraulic operator, fluid condition and seals are worth checking at routine service, more so than on an electromechanical motor.

Very intensive duty suits a gate cycling constantly, though at 300 kg and 2 metres this is a lighter application than GIUNO, likely a compact commercial gate or a busy pedestrian entrance rather than a heavy vehicle gate.
