The CAME FROG PLUS, CAME code 001FROG-PM4, is an irreversible underground swing gate motor with an encoder and adjustable leaf closing, for double gates with leaves up to 5.5 metres long and 700 kg. The motor is buried in a foundation box at the base of each pillar, so no arm or motor shows above ground. It draws 500 W and 2.1 A on a 230V supply and carries an IP67 rating.

Three points come first. We supply it as a single motor, so a double gate needs two motors, two foundation boxes and a control board. It opens slowly, in 30 seconds, and is rated for 10 cycles an hour, so it suits a quiet gate. And the work needs digging and drainage, so our engineers do it.

5.5 m leaves and 700 kg: is the CAME FROG PLUS right for your gate

CAME rates the motor for a leaf up to 5.5 metres and 700 kg. Its limits table appears to allow a heavier leaf if it is shorter. The table has no column headers, so we confirm the figure for your leaf before we quote.

We ask for the weight and the length of each leaf, and we allow for wind on solid sheet. A very long leaf catches the wind, so we check the pillars and the foundation as well.

CAME FROG PLUS foundation box: the 001FROG-PC

The foundation box is a buried casing that holds the motor and takes the load of the leaf. CAME names the 001FROG-PC for the FROG PLUS, in cataphoresis treated steel, with a release transmission, a gate fastening brace and a spring to adjust the opening limit point.

The box must be set level in the ground before the motor goes in, with a drainage path and a cable duct. We survey the ground before we quote. A site with a high water table or poor drainage needs more preparation, so tell us if your driveway floods.

CAME FROG PLUS or CAME FROG: choosing an underground motor

The FROG PLUS takes much longer and heavier leaves, and it opens more slowly. The FROG is faster, for 3.5 m leaves up to 400 kg. Ask us to compare them for your gate. See the CAME FROG.

500 W, 2.1 A, 30 seconds and 10 cycles an hour

CAME lists 500 W and 2.1 A on a 230V, 50 or 60 Hz supply. The opening time to 90 degrees is 30 seconds, and the duty is 10 cycles an hour, which is one full open and close every six minutes. A slow, gentle swing is kind to a big leaf and its hinges, and it suits a private estate. It does not suit a gate that must clear quickly for a queue of cars.

Encoder, adjustable leaf closing and the micro limit switch

The motor has an encoder, so the board knows where the leaf is, slows it near each end and reacts to an obstacle. CAME also lists adjustable leaf closing, which sets how the leaf meets its stop. CAME names a micro limit switch with an IP67 rating, code 001A4801, as an accessory.

The gearmotor is irreversible, so the leaf stays shut when the motor stops. CAME tests the automation against European impact force standards.

Release keys, electric locks and the CAME FROG PLUS in a power cut

An irreversible motor holds the leaf, so a manual release lets you open it in a power cut. CAME lists a lever key, a trilobe key and a custom key with a Euro DIN cylinder, and we quote the one that suits you. A very long, solid leaf catches the wind, so an electric lock is worth having, and CAME lists single and double cylinder locks.

This is a 230V mains motor, with no battery backup. We keep the release key where you can reach it and show everyone in the house how it works.

CAME control panel, CONNECT and safety for the FROG PLUS

CAME lists the 002ZM3EP multifunction control panel for two leaf swing gates, and describes CONNECT remote control through a gateway or the CAME KEY and a snap in card slot for the RIO System 2.0. We confirm the panel for your gate.

Photocells stop the gate closing on a car or a person, and a flashing lamp warns people before it moves. A safety edge is worth adding on a long leaf. A CAME receiver pairs only with CAME handsets, so Somfy, BFT and Nice remotes cannot pair with it. See the CAME remote controls.

IP67, flood water and sand: the CAME FROG PLUS in Oman

IP67 means the motor is sealed against dust and can survive temporary immersion, which matters for a buried motor in Oman, where heavy rain can flood a driveway in minutes. The motor works from minus 20 to plus 55°C, with thermal protection at 150°C. IP67 does not remove the need for drainage, so we build a drainage path and show you how to clear the pit once a year.
