BFT EBP AC A 230V Vertical Lock Oman, Swing Gate
The BFT EBP AC A 230V is a vertical electric lock for swing gates, mounted at ground level, running directly on 230V with no transformer needed. It is a different product from the panel mounted BFT EBP and the 12/24V BFT ECB already on this site. IP rating is unconfirmed, checked before fitting given its exposed mounting. Supplied and fitted across Oman by Doors Auto.
Description
The BFT EBP AC A 230V is a vertical electric lock for swing gates, mounted at ground level with a bolt extending into a socket under the leaf. It runs directly on 230V, with no step down transformer needed, which is the detail that separates it from both other BFT locks already on this site.
Three BFT lock products now exist, and none of them are interchangeable by name alone. Confirm which one your gate actually needs before ordering.

If you are replacing a failed lock, read the reference code off the old unit rather than guess from the word EBP or ECB alone, since the full code is what actually distinguishes these three. See the BFT EBP and BFT ECB pages for the other two.
BFT EBP or ECB lock: why running 230V direct changes the installation
ECB’s 12 or 24V supply means it usually wires straight from a motor board’s own low voltage output. EBP AC A 230V needs a mains feed run to the lock itself, since there is no transformer stepping the voltage down first. That is a different cable run and a different circuit protection requirement on site, not simply a different part number.
Where the gate already has a 230V supply run to the pillar for other reasons, this lock avoids adding a transformer into the circuit. Where only a low voltage feed already exists at the gate, ECB is the simpler retrofit.

Ground mounted locks and standing water in Oman
As with ECB, a vertical ground level lock sits exactly where rainwater collects against a gate post or threshold. Without a confirmed IP rating, we treat the ground socket’s drainage and the housing seal as our own responsibility rather than assume the manufacturer’s figure covers it. A socket formed in concrete needs a slight slope away from the lock body, so water runs clear rather than pooling around it after a flash rain spell in Sohar, Salalah or Muscat.
Running 230V directly to a ground level fitting also raises the stakes on that seal compared with a 12 or 24V unit, since a mains voltage fault reaching standing water is a more serious hazard than a low voltage one. We size the circuit protection and check the seal with that in mind on every installation.
Which lock suits which BFT swing gate
All three BFT locks solve the same underlying problem already explained on our PHOBOS BT B40 and ELI BT A40 pages, a leaf long enough that the motor’s own holding force is not enough against wind and pressure once closed. Which of the three you need depends on the gate’s existing hardware, the supply already run to the pillar, and whether a ground socket already exists.
We survey the gate and its existing wiring before recommending one over the other two, rather than default to whichever is in stock.
Wiring and timing an electric lock correctly
Every electric lock ties into the control board timed so the bolt releases before the motor starts opening and re-engages only after the gate has fully closed. Getting that timing wrong either stalls the motor against a locked bolt or leaves the gate genuinely unlocked between cycles. We set and test this under load, through several full cycles, before calling the job finished.
What is included, and what is not
- BFT EBP AC A 230V vertical electric lock
Not included: ground socket forming if your gate has none, a timing relay if your board does not already support lock output, and the mains cable run to the lock. See accessories and the BFT swing gate motor range.
BFT lock fitting across Oman
We stock all three BFT lock variants and survey the gate before recommending which one fits the existing hardware. We cover all eleven governorates: Muscat, Al Batinah North, Al Batinah South, Ad Dakhiliyah, Ash Sharqiyah North, Ash Sharqiyah South, Adh Dhahirah, Al Buraimi, Al Wusta, Dhofar and Musandam.

BFT EBP AC A 230V FAQ
What is the difference between EBP, ECB and EBP AC A 230V?
EBP uses a built in 230/24V transformer. ECB runs 12 or 24V direct, ground mounted. EBP AC A 230V runs 230V direct, also ground mounted, with no transformer. All three solve the same locking problem through different wiring.
Does this lock need a transformer?
No. It runs directly on 230V, unlike the original BFT EBP, which steps mains down to 24V internally.
Is this lock rated for ground level outdoor mounting?
IP rating is not confirmed by the manufacturer’s listing, so we treat drainage and the housing seal as our own responsibility when fitting it.
What is the BFT EBP AC A 230V price in Oman?
OMR 62.000. In stock, with fitting and any socket forming quoted separately.
Do you fit BFT electric locks across Oman?
Yes, in all eleven governorates, with our engineers based in Al Khuwair, Muscat.
