Description

What the 280 kg rating covers

On double units the figure is normally quoted per leaf. That means 280 kg of holding force on each door, not 280 kg shared between them. Ask us to confirm before you order if the distinction matters.

Where a magnetic double door lock is used

Double glass entrances, office suite doors, boardrooms and meeting rooms. Anywhere a pair of doors must secure as a set. One long bar is tidier than two separate locks.

What’s included

One mounting bar carrying both magnets, two armature plates, fixing screws and gaskets. Brackets and the 12 V power supply are quoted separately.

Fitting a double door lock

The bar spans the full opening. The frame head must be straight and level across both leaves, so check it with a string line before drilling.

Each armature plate is set independently. Adjust them one at a time until both faces sit flat. A gap on one leaf weakens only that side.

Common questions

Do both doors unlock at the same time?
Yes. Both magnets share one supply, so a single release signal opens the pair.

Can I lock just one leaf?
Not with this unit. If one leaf stays bolted shut most of the time, a single 280 kg lock plus a flush bolt is cheaper.

Will it suit rebated doors?
Only if the leaves close level with each other. Overlapping pairs need packing so both plates meet their magnets squarely.

Does it draw twice the current?
Close to it. Two magnets run continuously, so size the supply for both before adding readers.
