Description

The ACM UNITITAN E HR in Oman is a 170 Nm central rolling shutter motor rated for a curtain of up to 170 kg. Its defining feature is the electric brake fitted at the factory. That brake is what stops a closed shutter being lifted by hand from outside, and motors in this class without one will give under pressure. We hold it at our shop in Al Khuwair, Muscat, and our own engineers fit it.

What the “E” in UNITITAN E HR means

ACM builds three versions of this motor, and the code on the carton tells you which one you have. Code 1112110 is the UNITITAN HR, with no brake. Code 1112111 is the ACM UNITITAN E HR, where the E stands for the electric brake. Code 1112121 is the same motor built for 115 V supplies, which is not what Oman runs. All three deliver 170 Nm at 10 rpm. Only the middle one holds the shutter down when it is closed.

Will the ACM UNITITAN E HR fit your shutter?

Three measurements decide this, and none of them is the weight. The outer spring crown must be 200 mm, and a 220 mm band is supplied for larger crowns. The spring axle must be 60 mm or 48 mm; for 42 mm or 33 mm axles an adapter is needed, so tell us your axle size before you order. The motor splits into two halves and rejoins around an axle already in place, which is why it goes onto an existing shutter without stripping the barrel.

170 kg or 140 kg?

ACM rates this motor at 170 kg. The 140 kg figure that circulates in the Gulf belongs to a different, unbranded 170 Nm motor with a plastic and metal body. Torque and lifting weight are not the same number and they do not track each other between brands. If your curtain is anywhere near either figure, send us its width and height and we will work it out properly rather than guess. Our 260 Nm kit and 420 Nm kit cover heavier curtains, and the 140 Nm kit suits a light domestic shutter.

What comes in the kit

ACM’s own TITAN kit ships the motor with a control unit in a watertight box, a built-in 433.92 MHz rolling code receiver and antenna, the electric brake with its release cable, a remote handset and installation accessories. If you are replacing a motor only and already have working electronics, tell us — we will quote the motor on its own. If you need the electronics separately, the ACM control board and the ACM TX2 remote are both stocked.

Central motor or side motor?

A central motor sits inside the barrel and drives the shutter from its axis, which keeps the doorway clear and hides the motor completely. It needs the right crown and axle to fit. A side motor bolts to the end of the barrel and is easier to retrofit where the axle is non-standard, but it takes up space beside the opening. If the central fit is wrong for your shutter, the ACM TITANSIDE 600 is the side-mounted alternative, and the full range sits in rolling shutter door motors.

Common questions

Can someone push my shutter up from outside when it is closed?
Not with this motor. The electric brake holds the barrel and the reducer is irreversible. Without a brake, a closed shutter can be forced up by hand — which is exactly what the cheaper units in this class allow.

My spring axle is 42 mm. Will it fit?
Not directly. The ACM UNITITAN E HR is built for 60 mm and 48 mm axles, and 42 mm or 33 mm needs an adapter. Message us your axle diameter and we will confirm what you need before you order.

How long can it run continuously?
The thermal cut-out trips at about four minutes of continuous running, then resets once it cools. On a normal shop shutter that is many full cycles. On a very tall curtain, or a gate opened and closed repeatedly in the middle of the day, it is a real limit worth designing around.

What happens in a power cut?
There is a manual release. Pulling it disengages the reducer so the shutter can be moved by hand, and the brake releases with it. Every unit ships with the release cable.
