The Somfy Dexxo Pro 800 is a garage door opener kit with 800 N of traction, a chain rail of about 3 metres in two parts and two Somfy Keygo 4 RTS remote controls. It runs on 230V mains, opens a two metre high door in about 11 seconds and slows the door at the end of each stroke.

Two points come first. The kit does not list photocells, so a family garage needs a pair added. And it runs on Somfy RTS only, so BFT, Nice and Came handsets will not pair with it.

Which garage doors the Somfy Dexxo Pro 800 suits

Somfy describes the kit as a motorization for garage doors, and the listing does not publish a maximum door area or weight. The only size clue is the opening time of 11 seconds for a door two metres high.

The door must also be balanced on its springs. An opener should not carry the full weight of a door. If you can lift the door by hand with ease, it is ready for an opener.

Somfy Dexxo Pro 800 or 1000: which garage door opener to choose

The two openers share an RTS radio, 32 remote memory, a built in light and a 500W external light output. The differences are force, rail choice and what comes in the box.

The two listings state duty in different ways, so do not compare those figures directly. We confirm the real cycle count for your garage when we quote. The gap in price is only OMR 11.000, and the 1000 brings more force, photocells in the box and a silent belt option. Choose the 800 for a standard door when budget matters, and the 1000 for a heavier door or a quieter garage.

Semi automatic, automatic and pedestrian modes

The opener offers three operating modes. Semi automatic runs the door on each press of the remote. Automatic closes the door after a delay that you can adjust. Pedestrian opens the door only part of the way, enough for a person to walk through or for ventilation.

Obstacle detection stops the motor when the door meets resistance, and the door locks itself when it is closed. The listing cites the standards EN 60 335-2-103, EN 13 241 and EN 12 453.

Opening speed: 11 seconds for a two metre door

Somfy states an opening time of 11 seconds for a door two metres high, with the motor slowing as the door nears the end of opening and closing. The soft finish is easier on the door and the rail, and it is gentler on the vehicle parked beneath.

Light, battery backup and manual release

A built in 230V light, 40W maximum, switches on with the door. A separate external 230V light of up to 500W can be switched independently. Somfy offers a compatible battery as an option, and it is not in this kit.

A manual release is included, so during a power cut you can release the door and move it by hand. Fit the release where you can reach it, and teach the household how it works.

Somfy RTS garage door remote: Keygo 4 RTS in the box

The two remotes are Somfy Keygo 4 RTS keyring handsets, each with four buttons. The opener remembers up to 32 remotes, and every button you pair uses one place in that memory. See all Somfy remote controls for spares.

Somfy RTS transmits on 433.42 MHz with its own coding, so BFT, Nice and Came handsets cannot pair with it. Somfy io homecontrol, on 868 to 870 MHz, is a different system and does not mix with RTS.
