The Somfy Dexxo Pro 1000 is a garage door opener kit for sectional and up and over doors up to 15 square metres, and for compatible side opening doors. It drives the door with a 24V DC gearmotor fed from 230V mains, pulls with 1000 N at peak, and ships with a 3.5 m rail, two Somfy RTS remote controls, a photocell pair and a push button.

Two points come first. The cycles per day depend on which rail you fit, so we confirm the rail in your box. And it runs on Somfy RTS only, so BFT, Nice and Came handsets will not pair with it.

Which garage doors the Somfy Dexxo Pro 1000 suits

Somfy lists the Dexxo Pro 1000 for sectional doors, up and over doors and compatible side opening doors, up to 15 square metres of door area. The weight of the door is not published, so we check it before we quote.

The door must also be balanced. An opener should not carry the full weight of a door that is heavy on its springs. If you can lift the door by hand with ease, it is ready for an opener.

Somfy garage door opener rails: chain, belt or high performance

The Dexxo Pro 1000 works with three rail options: a standard chain, a silent belt and a high performance chain. The rail decides how many cycles the opener is rated for each day.

Twenty cycles a day suits a family with one car. A busy household with several drivers, deliveries and visitors can pass it. If your count is higher, ask us about the high performance rail. The silent belt is the choice when the garage sits under a bedroom.

1000 N pull force and 18 cm per second: what the numbers mean

The motor delivers up to 1000 N at peak and 800 N to start the door moving. Starting force matters because a door is hardest to lift off its stops. The listed speed is up to 18 cm per second, so a door of two metres opens in a little over ten seconds.

The closing approach speed can be adjusted, so the door slows near the floor. Together with obstacle detection and the photocell pair in the kit, that makes the closing stroke gentler and safer.

Safety, light and ventilation on the Dexxo Pro 1000

Battery backup for a Somfy garage door opener

Somfy offers a compatible battery as an option, giving limited operation during a power cut. A battery is not in this kit, and the listing does not say how many cycles it gives. Without it, the door can be released and moved by hand. Ask us if power cuts are a worry in your area.

Somfy RTS remotes: 32 channels and what pairs with the opener

The Dexxo Pro 1000 uses Somfy RTS at 433.42 MHz and remembers up to 32 channels. The two remotes in the box cover most households. If you need a spare, the Somfy Keytis 2 RTS and the Somfy Keygo 4 RTS both suit it. See all Somfy remote controls.

BFT, Nice and Came handsets cannot pair with it, because each brand uses its own coding. Somfy io homecontrol, on 868 to 870 MHz, is a different system and does not mix with RTS.
