Rechargeable parking lock: how long the battery lasts in an Omani summer

The supplier states 6 to 7 months per charge. Lead acid batteries lose capacity and life faster in heat, and a lock on an open slab in a Muscat or Nizwa summer sits in strong sun. That is our reasoning, not a supplier figure, so treat 6 to 7 months as a best case.

The listing also does not say whether the arm stays up or down when the battery runs flat, or how the emergency release works. We confirm both before handover, because a car locked in its own bay is a real problem.

Remote control parking lock Oman: what to expect from the handset

One press raises the arm and one press lowers it. Remote range is not published for this model, so we test the range at your actual space, with the car parked, before we finish the job.

A lost remote matters more here than on a gate, because the lock is the only thing standing between you and your bay. Ask us about spare remotes when you order.

What a raised parking lock will and will not stop

A raised arm at 400 mm blocks a driver who tries to park in your space. It does not stop a driver who reverses fast into it, and that can bend the arm. The listing gives 2000 kg without saying what it measures, so we do not read it as a crash rating.

Ask us which versions are in stock. A bay near a socket suits the adaptor version. A bay with no socket suits the battery versions.

Sand, salt and water on an automatic parking lock

IP67 covers dust and temporary immersion, so rain and hosing are fine. Sand still collects around the folding pivot, and a gritty hinge stiffens over time. Brush the arm area now and then, and rinse it after a sandy spell.

Coastal bays in Sohar, Sur and Salalah add salt air, which attacks fixings first. Inland at Nizwa and Duqm, the heat is the concern, and it works on the battery before it works on the steel.

Fixing the lock to your space

The listing does not state the fixing method. A folding lock of this kind is normally anchored into a concrete slab. A tiled floor or a thin screed may need a different fixing, so we check what is under the surface before we drill.
