2200 kg sliding gate motor in Oman: which CAME motor for which gate

Choose the motor by the weight of the moving leaf, with a margin. A motor that runs near its limit all day wears out early.

If your gate weighs close to a limit, step up to the next motor. A larger motor runs cooler and lasts longer on the same gate.

Steel rack for a heavy sliding gate: module 4 or 6

The kit includes a 4 metre nylon rack. CAME lists the pinion as module 4 and also as available in module 4 or 6, so the shipped module is not clear. The rack and the pinion must share a module, or they will not mesh.

Nylon rack is usually rated for much lighter gates than steel. At 2,200 kg we quote steel rack, and we confirm the module with the supplier first. The rack must also run along the full length of the leaf, so a gate listed up to 20 m needs a large run, joined in line and fixed straight.

Track, rollers and foundation for a 2200 kg gate

A motor does not carry the gate. The track, the rollers and the foundation do. A heavy gate on a weak track will wear out the rollers and strain the motor, whatever its rating. We check four things before we fit.

The safety inputs can take 8k2 resistive safety edges, which we recommend on a heavy gate that closes toward a wall or a footpath.

The photocell pair in the kit is Bluebus, CAME’s own bus system. It suits CAME boards. Photocells from another brand are not assumed to connect.

Magnetic limit switches and the manual release

The unit is ready for magnetic limit switches, which are not listed as included. They have no mechanical contact to wear, so they are a good choice on a heavy gate. A manual release is essential on a gate this size. The listing gives no battery details, so we do not promise that the gate opens in a power cut.

CAME remote controls: receiver and what pairs

A remote receiver is in the kit, with two remotes. The listing does not state the radio frequency. A CAME receiver pairs only with CAME handsets. Somfy, BFT and Nice remotes cannot pair with it, because each brand uses its own coding.
