The CAME BXV08AGS is a heavy duty 24 V sliding gate motor kit for residential and commercial gates up to 800 kg and 20 m long. It pushes with 800 N, moves the gate at 11 metres a minute, draws up to 400 W from a 230 V supply and carries an IP54 rating. The kit comes with a four channel remote, a pair of DIR10 photocells, an LED flashing light, a radio card, a push button and four nylon racks.

Two points come first. A gate near 800 kg needs a steel rack, not the nylon racks in the kit. And the kit includes one remote, so we quote extras for a busy site.

800 kg sliding gate motor in Oman: three CAME choices compared

The BXV08AGS costs more and publishes the most about its motor, with a stated thrust, speed and length. The BX 800 kg is the lowest price. Ask us to compare them for your gate.

CAME BXV series: BXV04AGS, BXV06AGS and BXV08AGS

The BXV series share a 24 V motor, an AF43S radio card, IP54 and a grey housing. The differences are weight, length, power and thrust.

The BXV08AGS has more than twice the thrust of the BXV04AGS, for OMR 80 more, at a slightly lower speed. The BXV 1000 kg sits above it in the same series.

24 V motor, 400 W and 800 N: what the figures mean

The motor runs at 24 V, fed from a 230 V, 50 or 60 Hz mains supply through the control board. It draws up to 400 W and pushes with 800 N of thrust. The speed is 11 metres a minute, so a gate that opens 6 metres takes about 33 seconds.

The listing does not state the current or whether the motor is AC or DC, so we confirm both before the electrician sizes the supply.

Steel rack for an 800 kg sliding gate

The kit includes four nylon racks. The listing does not give the pinion module or the length of the racks, so we confirm both with CAME. The rack and the pinion must share a module, or they will not mesh. The rack must also run along the whole leaf, so a gate listed up to 20 m needs a large run, joined in line and fixed straight.

Nylon rack is usually rated for lighter gates than steel of the same module. At 800 kg we quote steel rack, and we confirm the rating of the nylon racks in the kit first.

Heavy duty service: is the BXV08AGS for your site

CAME lists heavy duty service, with no number for the duty. We ask CAME for the rating before we recommend it for a gate that runs all day.

DIR10 photocells and the LED flasher

A pair of DIR10 outdoor photocells and an LED flashing light are in the kit. The photocells stop the gate before it touches an obstacle, and the flasher warns people that it is about to move. On a gate this heavy, a safety edge is also worth adding where it closes toward a wall or a footpath.

433.92 MHz radio and the single remote in the kit

The listing gives the radio as 433.92 MHz, with an AF43S radio card and a four channel rolling code remote. The remote memory is not stated. A CAME TOP handset pairs with it. Somfy, BFT and Nice remotes cannot pair, because each brand uses its own coding. The kit has one remote, so we quote extra handsets with the motor. Tell us how many people use the gate.

Power cuts and the manual release

IP54, heat and sand: the CAME BXV08AGS in Oman

IP54 protects against dust and splashing water, and the housing is a weather resistant grey. The listing gives no temperature range, so we do not quote one. We mount the motor in shade where we can, on a raised base clear of standing water and blown sand. Keep the track clean, because sand wears rollers and rack faster than any motor fault.
