The CAME ATI A5000, CAME code 001A5000A, is a 230V swing gate motor for double gates with leaves up to 5 metres long and 400 kg each. It uses an irreversible gearmotor with opening and closing limit switches and an encoder, so the leaf stays where the motor stops it. Our twin kit comes with two motors, a two leaf control panel, two TOP 432EE remotes, a KIARO flashing light and a pair of DELTA DIR photocells.

Two points come first. A 5 m leaf is a large sail in the wind, so we check the weight, the hinges and the pillars before we quote. And CAME does not publish the stroke, so we measure your pillars on site.

5 m leaves and 400 kg: is the CAME ATI A5000 right for your gate

CAME rates the motor for a leaf up to 5 metres and 400 kg. Its limits table also appears to allow a heavier leaf if it is shorter, with about 500 kg at 4 m and about 600 kg at 3 m. We confirm the figure for your leaf before we quote, because the length and the weight pair together.

We ask for the weight and the length of each leaf, and we allow for wind on solid sheet.

CAME ATI A5000 or CAME ATI A3000: which leaf length do you need

The two motors share the same electrics. The A5000 is the version for the longest leaves. The table shows only what CAME publishes.

The A5000 reaches 2 m further, opens more slowly and is rated for fewer cycles. Choose it only when you need the length. For a leaf of 3 m or less, the CAME ATI A3000 is faster and costs less.

Irreversible gearmotor with limit switches on a CAME swing gate

An irreversible gearmotor cannot be pushed back from outside, so the leaf stays shut when the motor stops. CAME fits opening and closing limit switch micro switches, which set the end positions of the leaf. In many cases a closed gate does not need a separate lock.

A long leaf catches the wind and puts a large load on the arm and the hinges, so a long, tall or solid leaf may still benefit from an electric lock. CAME lists single and double cylinder electric locks and a remote release with a pull cord, and we quote them where they are needed. In a power cut the leaf is released with the manual release, so keep the key where you can reach it.

260 W, 15 cycles an hour and the opening time

CAME lists 260 W and 1.2 A on a 230V supply. The opening time to 90 degrees is 30 to 40 seconds, because a long leaf moves slowly. The duty rating is 15 cycles an hour, which is one full open and close every four minutes. The thrust is listed as 400 to 4000 N, a range that the control board sets for your gate.

Pillar depth, hinge position and opening angle for the ATI A5000

An arm mounted motor needs clear depth from the hinge to the inside face of the pillar, so the arm can travel through its stroke. CAME does not give the stroke in its text, and its opening angle table is not clear in the data we have, so we cannot check your pillars against a number from the page. We measure on site and ask CAME for the figures.

Send photos of both pillars with a tape across the depth, and we confirm the fit before you order.

CAME ATI A5000 control boards, encoder and CONNECT

The motor has an encoder, so the board knows where the leaf is and reacts to an obstacle. CAME names three control boards for it, and the supplier’s kit includes a two leaf panel, so we confirm which one you receive.

CAME also describes CONNECT remote control through a gateway or the CAME KEY, and a snap in card slot for the RIO System 2.0. Those suit buyers who want phone control or a building system, and we confirm them with you at the survey.

TOP 432EE remotes, flashing light and photocells in the kit

The two remotes are the CAME TOP432EE. A CAME receiver pairs only with CAME handsets, so Somfy, BFT and Nice remotes cannot pair with it. We programme the remotes to the control panel, and we can add more handsets.

The KIARO lamp warns people that the gate is about to move, and the DELTA DIR photocells stop it closing on a car or a person. On a long leaf that swings far, a safety edge on the closing edge is worth adding.

230V only: the CAME ATI A5000 and power cuts

CAME lists this motor as a 230V gearmotor only, and shows no 24V version for it. It runs on mains power, and a power cut leaves the leaf where it stopped, held by the irreversible gearmotor. We release it with the manual release and keep the key where you can reach it. If a battery backup matters to you, ask us, and we point you to a 24V swing motor instead.

IP44, wind and sand: the CAME ATI A5000 in Oman

IP44 protects against solid objects and splashing water, and it is lower than IP54 on some other swing kits. The motor works from minus 20 to plus 55°C and has thermal protection at 150°C. A 5 m solid leaf catches wind like a sail, and that load lands on the hinges, the arm and the pillar. We mount the motor clear of standing water and seal the cable entries. Coastal sites in Sohar, Sur and Salalah add salt, which attacks pivots first, so keep the hinges greased.
