The DEIMOS ULTRA BT A600 is a 24V BFT operator for sliding gates up to 600 kg, built for gates that run often rather than occasionally. It opens at 12 metres per minute, draws 70W and carries mechanical locking, so most gates need no separate electric lock.

One thing to know before you buy. BFT has placed this line in phase out, so what we hold is genuine run out stock rather than current production. That is why the price sits where it does, and the section below explains exactly what it changes and what it does not.

DEIMOS ULTRA BT A600 is a run out model, and here is what that means

Phase out means BFT is ending production of the line, not that the product is faulty or unsupported. Every unit we supply is genuine BFT with manufacturer warranty, and it installs and performs exactly as it always did.

What it changes is the long view. Once run out stock is gone, replacement operators come from the current generation instead. BFT’s catalogue now carries the DEIMOS ULTRA BT B600 in the same 600 kg class, which we can quote if you would rather buy from current production.

What it does not change is serviceability. The part that fails on these gates is almost never the gearbox, it is the control board, and we stock those. If you want the cheaper route into a proper Italian operator and you are comfortable with a run out line, this is a good buy. If the gate is on a twenty year building and you want the newest generation, ask us for the current model instead. We will tell you the price difference honestly.

Battery backup on a 24V sliding gate motor in Oman

This is the practical reason to choose BT over AC here. A 24V operator accepts a battery pack, so the gate still opens when the power drops. Distributors list the SL BAT2 24V kit against this operator.

At 70W the draw is genuinely low, which is what makes battery backup realistic rather than token. We size the pack against how many cycles you need to cover, because a villa needing four openings and a compound needing forty are different battery jobs.

Without a battery, an outage means walking out to the operator, turning the personal key and working the release lever by hand. That is fine once. It is not fine at a compound entrance with cars queuing.

MERAK SL2 control board, the part that usually fails first

Gearboxes on these operators outlast the electronics comfortably. The board is what surrenders to heat, moisture and voltage spikes, and on this model that board is the MERAK SL2.

Symptoms worth knowing before you spend on a motor. A gate that hums but will not move, one that runs in only one direction, one that has stopped learning remotes, or one that opens then immediately reverses. Every one of those is usually a board or a limit magnet, not a dead gearbox.

How fast the DEIMOS ULTRA BT A600 opens your gate

Leaf speed is 12 metres per minute, which is 0.2 metres per second. That is quick for this class, and it is one of the reasons the ULTRA line was popular on compound gates.

Add a few seconds at each end for the slowdown, which the operator does automatically to stop the gate slamming into its stops. Those are our own figures calculated from the published 12 m/min, and they assume a properly running gate on clean track.

The rack is the item people forget, and it is the one that stops an installation dead. This operator drives a module 4 pinion, and rack runs the full length of the gate leaf, not the width of the opening. A 6 metre leaf takes 6 metres of rack even where the gap it closes is 4 metres.

IP44 and 55°C, a 24V sliding gate motor in the Omani climate

The 55°C upper limit is generous and is not the problem here. IP44 is. It covers splashing water, not standing water, and these operators sit at ground level where flash rain pools against a gate post.

We mount on a raised concrete plinth so the base sits above any water that collects, and we seal the conduit entry properly rather than leaving it open to the ground. On coastal sites in Sohar, Sur and Salalah we also watch the foundation bolts, because salt attacks the fixings long before it touches the operator.

Blown sand is the other one. It packs into the rack teeth, the gate stiffens, and the operator works harder against a track nobody swept. Magnetic limit switches help here, since there are no mechanical arms to be fouled, but the magnets still need to stay where they were set. Brushing the track is the single cheapest thing you can do for this machine.

DEIMOS ULTRA BT A600 questions

Is the DEIMOS ULTRA BT A600 discontinued? BFT has placed the line in phase out, so what we hold is genuine run out stock with manufacturer warranty rather than current production. It installs and performs normally, and we stock the MERAK SL2 board that these gates actually need over time.

What is the difference between DEIMOS and DEIMOS ULTRA? They are different models, not different sizes. The ULTRA runs a MERAK SL2 control board, so boards, limit parts and accessories do not swap between them even at the same 600 kg rating.

Will the gate open during a power cut? Only with a battery pack fitted, which this 24V operator supports. Without one, you release it with the personal key and lever and push the gate by hand.

Is the rack included? No. Module 4 rack is ordered separately and cut to the length of the gate leaf, not the width of the opening. A 6 metre leaf needs 6 metres of rack.

How long does it take to open a 4 metre gate? About 20 seconds at the rated 12 metres per minute, plus a few seconds of slowdown at each end. That is fast for a 600 kg operator.

Will it suit a gate that opens all day? Yes. It is rated for intensive duty and the 24V motor runs cooler than a 230V AC equivalent, which is why this line was chosen for compound entrances rather than single villas.
