This one needs its own power

Every other exit button we sell is a passive switch. This one is not. An infrared sensor has to be powered to watch for a hand.

Run a twelve volt feed to it alongside the lock wiring. Installers used to plain buttons miss this and wonder why nothing happens.

Where a no touch exit button earns its price

Clinics, treatment rooms, laboratories, kitchens and food handling areas. Anywhere hands are clean, gloved or full.

It also suits a workshop door where hands are oily. A sensor does not care what is on your fingers.

No touch exit button or a push button

A push button is cheaper, needs no power and keeps working if the controller dies. That makes it the safer default.

Choose no touch where hygiene or gloved hands matter more than simplicity. On a busy clinic door it pays for itself in cleaning alone.

Setting the delay on a no touch exit button

Most units let you set how long the lock stays released. A short delay suits a single person leaving.

A longer delay suits a trolley or a stretcher going through. Set it once at commissioning and leave it.

Does it need its own power supply?
Yes. That is the main difference from a push button, so allow for it when sizing the supply.

How close does my hand need to be?

What happens if the power fails?
The sensor stops working, so fit a mechanical release as well on any door people must leave through.

Does it work with gloves or wet hands?
