A stainless steel push to exit button that releases the lock from inside. It gives NO, NC and COM dry contacts and needs no power of its own. Every magnetic lock door needs one, or people are shut in. Fits a standard back box in surface or flush mount. In stock at our Al Khuwair shop in Muscat.

Description

An exit button releases the lock from inside so people can get out. It is a simple switch with no power of its own, wired into the lock circuit. We stock the stainless steel exit button in Oman at our shop in Al Khuwair, Muscat.

Why every magnetic lock door needs an exit button

A magnetic lock holds until the circuit is broken. Without a release inside, anyone in the room is shut in until someone else opens the door.

That makes the button part of the lock, not an accessory. Budget one for every door you secure.

Where a stainless steel exit button is fitted

On the wall inside the door, at handle height, close enough to reach as you walk out. Offices, stock rooms, clinics and staff doors.

Stainless steel suits shared doors that get pressed hundreds of times a day. Plastic buttons mark and yellow much faster.

Choosing a stainless steel exit button

Check the plate size against your back box. Common sizes are 86 by 50 mm and 86 by 86 mm, so measure before ordering.

Decide whether you want an LED. A lit button is easier to find in a dark corridor and shows the circuit is live.

Wiring a stainless steel exit button

The button gives a dry contact, usually marked NO, NC and COM. Nothing needs to be powered on the button side.

Wire it in series with the lock supply on a magnetic lock. On a controller, take it to the exit or request to exit input instead.

What’s included

The button, faceplate and fixing screws. The back box, cabling and the lock itself are separate.

Common questions

Do I have to fit one?
On any door people need to leave through, yes. Treat it as required rather than optional.

Is this the same as a break glass unit?
No. A break glass is a one time emergency device. An exit button is for normal daily use, and a fire route needs both.

Does the button need its own power?
No. It is a passive switch, so it keeps working even if the controller fails.

Should I wire NO or NC?
NC for a magnetic lock, because the circuit has to break to release. NO for most controller inputs. Ask us if you are unsure.
