Description

The mini RFID reader is a compact card reader for door and gate access. It reads a card and passes the number to a controller, which decides whether the door opens. We stock the mini RFID access control reader in Oman at our shop in Al Khuwair, Muscat.

Check the interface before you order

This reader talks over RS232, TTL or RS485. Those are serial buses, not Wiegand.

A controller expecting Wiegand will not accept an RS485 reader. Send us your controller model and we will confirm the two ends match.

Two frequency versions

The reader comes as a 125 kHz version or a 13.56 MHz version. They are not interchangeable.

Match the reader to the cards you already hold. Getting this wrong means reissuing a card to every user.

Reading distance on a mini RFID reader

The reader senses a card at up to fifteen centimetres. It reads in under two tenths of a second, and fifteen is the ceiling rather than the everyday figure.

Card type, mounting position and nearby metal all shorten it. Allow less than the maximum when you plan the mounting.

Built for the heat

The rated operating range runs from minus thirty to plus eighty five degrees. Humidity is rated from ten to ninety percent.

That covers an Omani summer with room to spare. It matters on a gate post in direct sun.

Where a mini RFID reader is used

Office doors, apartment entrances, villa pedestrian gates and warehouse access. Anywhere a small reader suits better than a wall keypad.

The compact housing helps on a narrow frame. It also draws very little current, so the supply rarely needs resizing.

Is this a Wiegand reader?
It uses RS232, TTL or RS485. Tell us what your controller expects and we will confirm before you order.

Which frequency version do I need?
Whichever matches your cards. Send us a card and we will identify it.

How close does the card need to be?
Up to fifteen centimetres in good conditions. Plan for less on a metal frame.

Will it survive outdoors?
The temperature rating covers Omani heat. Ask us about the housing before fitting it in direct rain.
