Somfy Keytis 2 RTS Remote Control Oman, 2 Channel Gate Remote

Description

The Somfy Keytis 2 RTS is a two channel remote control for Somfy RTS gate motors and garage doors. It has two buttons, a flashing LED that confirms each transmission and a CR2430 coin battery. The case measures 70 by 41 by 14 mm, small enough for a pocket or a car sun visor.

One point comes first. This is a Somfy RTS handset, so it pairs only with Somfy RTS motors and receivers. It will not work with BFT, Nice or Came equipment, and it will not work with Somfy io homecontrol.

Somfy Keytis 2 RTS price in Oman and what you are buying

Price: OMR 10.000, in stock at our Muscat shop. The handset runs on a CR2430 battery. The listing does not state the box contents, so ask us whether the battery is fitted when you order.

It is a spare or an extra handset, not a motor. Buy it when you need another remote for a gate or door that already has a Somfy RTS receiver, such as the Somfy Ixengo L 24V or the Somfy Ixengo JS.

Somfy RTS gate remote: what RTS means and what it pairs with

RTS stands for Radio Technology Somfy. It transmits on 433.42 MHz with a rolling code, so each press sends a different signal. Somfy io homecontrol is a separate system on 868 to 870 MHz. The two cannot talk to each other.

BFT, Nice and Came each use their own coding as well. A handset from one brand cannot pair with a receiver from another, even when the frequency looks close. Before you buy, check that your gate or door has a Somfy RTS receiver.

Somfy 2 channel remote: how to use the two buttons

Each of the two buttons can be paired with a different Somfy RTS receiver. A common setup gives button one to the main gate and button two to a garage door or a second gate. A household with one gate and one garage needs nothing more.

Every button you pair takes one place in that motor’s remote memory. The Somfy Ixengo L 24V remembers up to 40 channels and the Ixengo JL and JS remember 128, so a normal household is well within the limit.

Somfy Keytis 2 or Keygo 4: which Somfy RTS handset to buy

Both are Somfy RTS handsets and both run on a CR2430 battery. The Keytis 2 has two buttons and costs OMR 10.000. The Keygo 4 has four buttons and a metal ring for a key bunch, and it costs OMR 11.000.

The prices are only OMR 1.000 apart, so choose by buttons. Pick the Keytis 2 for one gate and one garage. Pick the Keygo 4 if you want to run three or four things from one handset.

Flashing LED and repeated presses on a Somfy RTS remote

The LED flashes while the handset transmits, so you can see that a press was sent. If the LED flashes and the gate does not move, the handset is working and the fault lies with the pairing or the receiver. If the LED stays dark, the battery is the first suspect.

The listing describes an opening and closing sequence on repeated presses. How the gate responds to each press depends on the motor and its settings. On many gates the first press opens, a second press during travel stops, and the next press closes. We set this when we pair the handset.

Range and signal for a Somfy RTS gate remote

The listing does not publish a range for this handset, so we do not quote one. Range always depends on the site. Walls, a metal gate leaf, a parked car and other radio noise all cut it down.

For most villa driveways that is not a problem. If the receiver sits deep inside a building, tell us before you order and we will say where the aerial should go.

Pairing a spare Somfy remote to your motor

A new handset has to be taught to the motor before it works. The method depends on the motor and its control board. On many Somfy boards, an existing paired handset or the board’s own programming button starts the process, and a few presses on the new handset finish it.

Our engineers pair spare handsets in Muscat and on site. If you have lost every working remote, the motor can still be programmed from its control board. Bring the old handset if you have one, or tell us the motor model.

CR2430 battery and your Somfy remote in the Omani heat

The Keytis runs on a CR2430 coin cell, a common size you can replace without special tools. A handset left on a car dashboard in summer sees far more heat than it was designed for, and the battery loses life faster. Keep it on a sun visor clip or in a bag, not in direct sun.

Weak range or a button that works only sometimes usually means a tired battery, not a faulty remote. Replace the cell first.
