The BFT steel rack, model CVZ D571053, is a module 4 gear rack sold in 1 metre lengths, screw fixed to supports along a sliding gate. It fits the pinion on BFT DEIMOS, ARES, ICARO and KUSTOS sliding gate motors, all module 4.

Rack is measured against the wrong figure more than any other part on a sliding gate. It has to cover the full leaf length, not the opening width. A 6 metre leaf needs 6 metres of rack, six pieces, even if the gap it closes is only 4 metres.

Measure the leaf itself, end to end, not the space between the posts. Order that length in whole metre pieces, since this rack is sold and fixed in 1 metre sections.

Buying to the opening width instead of the leaf length is the single most common shortfall we see on a sliding gate order, and it means a second delivery before installation can finish.

Steel or nylon gate rack, which one suits your gate

Steel suits our BFT ICARO, ARES and industrial DEIMOS installations, where load and duty cycle matter more than quiet running. A lighter villa gate on DEIMOS BT A400 or A600 often does just as well on nylon for less cost.

Fixing steel rack correctly on a sliding gate in Oman

The rack sits on adjustable supports welded or bolted to the gate frame, set to the correct height and gap from the pinion. Get that gap wrong and the rack either binds against the pinion or rides loose, both of which wear the gearbox faster than normal use.

On coastal sites in Sohar, Sur and Salalah, an unprotected steel rack picks up surface corrosion faster than inland, so check the finish and touch up any exposed cut ends during fitting. Inland at Nizwa and Duqm, blown sand packed into the rack teeth is the more common issue, and brushing the track periodically keeps the pinion from working against grit.
