Description

The BFT DESME A15 is a transmitter and receiver photocell pair with a 30 metre range, self aligning heads and an IP55 rating, built for BFT sliding gates, swing gates and barriers. It runs on a fixed 24V, AC or DC.

Read past the model number before choosing. DESME A15 covers 30 metres, further than the BFT Compacta A20 at 20 metres, even though 15 is the smaller figure in the name.

BFT DESME or Compacta photocell, why the number is not the range

Choose DESME for a longer span or a genuinely outdoor, exposed mounting. Choose Compacta A20 if your board supplies an unusual voltage outside 24V, since its wider input range copes with more boards without an adaptor.

Self aligning photocells: faster commissioning, fewer callbacks

A self aligning photocell confirms the beam is correctly lined up during setup, rather than leaving an installer to guess by eye. That cuts commissioning time and reduces the chance of a photocell left slightly misaligned, which is the most common reason a gate reverses or refuses to close for no obvious reason.

IP55 covers dust protection and water jets from any direction, a genuine step up for a unit mounted permanently outdoors. Coastal sites in Sohar, Sur and Salalah still benefit from a periodic check of the cable gland, since salt finds any gap over years, and inland at Nizwa and Duqm a wipe of the lens keeps blown dust from weakening the beam even on a well sealed unit.

Does the DESME A15 have a shorter range than the Compacta A20?

No, it is longer. DESME A15 reaches 30 metres against the Compacta A20’s 20 metres, despite the lower number in the name.

What does self aligning mean on this photocell?

It confirms the beam is correctly lined up during setup, cutting commissioning time and reducing the most common cause of a gate reversing for no obvious reason, a misaligned beam.

Will this photocell work with my control board?

It needs a 24V AC or DC supply. If your board supplies a different voltage, the wider input Compacta A20 may suit better.
