The BFT THALIA is the control board for BFT KUSTOS BT A25, KUSTOS BT A40 and the LIBRA swing gate series, driving one or two 24V electromechanical motors with a built in dual channel receiver and D-Track obstacle detection with slowdown on both opening and closing.

One figure needs checking before this page is treated as final. This source states 180W maximum per operator. Our existing KUSTOS BT A25 and A40 pages state 40W absorbed power for the same motors. Both likely describe genuine different things, a peak or stall rating against a steady running figure, but we are stating the conflict rather than silently choosing one.

Why a KUSTOS gate fails at the board before the motor

KUSTOS gearboxes are mechanically simple and built for intensive use, generally outlasting the electronics. A gate that hums, runs one direction only, or has stopped learning remotes is very often this board, not both motors failing together. Send us a photo of the existing board and its code, and we will confirm before you spend on new operators.

Resolving the 180W against 40W question

A stated maximum of 180W per operator and a separately quoted 40W absorbed power are not necessarily contradictory. Many electromechanical operators draw a brief higher current at start up, breaking the gate away from standstill, while settling to a much lower steady running figure once moving. If that is the explanation here, 180W would be the board’s maximum rated capacity per channel and 40W the typical running draw of the KUSTOS motor itself.

We read the actual current draw off the unit during commissioning rather than rely on either published figure alone, and we size the circuit on the higher of the two until that is confirmed in writing from BFT.

Two motors, one board: what that means for a double leaf gate

Driving both leaves of a double swing gate from one board means a single point of failure for the whole gate, not two independent systems. If one leaf stops working, check this board before assuming both motors have failed simultaneously, since a shared board fault reads as a dual motor failure but is usually one part.

Fitting a BFT swing gate control board in Oman

This is a bare 230V board feeding two 24V motors, photocells and a safety edge, all landing on removable terminal blocks that must match the old wiring exactly. Coastal sites in Sohar, Sur and Salalah need the enclosure seal checked against salt air over time, and inland at Nizwa and Duqm, dust through a poorly sealed cable gland is the more common cause of an intermittent fault.
