Description

The CAME CGZP (code 009CGZP) is a module 4 rack for sliding gates, made of PA6 nylon and fibreglass around a 10 x 10 mm steel core. CAME rates it for sliding gates up to 600 kg. Each piece is 1 m long and comes with its fixing supports, so it bolts to the gate without welding.

The rack is the toothed strip along the bottom of the gate. The pinion on the motor turns against it and drives the gate open and closed. A rack that does not match the motor, or that is fixed badly, is the most common reason a new sliding gate motor wears early.

What is a nylon gate rack, and why a steel core?

A nylon rack is lighter and quieter than steel, and it does not rust. On its own, nylon would bend under the weight of a gate. The steel core inside the CGZP keeps the rack straight along its length, while the nylon teeth give a smooth, quiet run against the pinion.

The rack must run the full travel of the gate, plus enough length to stay on the pinion when the gate is fully open and fully closed. As a simple rule, order one metre more than your gate opening, and round up to the next whole metre.

We measure the gate on site and cut the last piece to length, so you pay only for what the gate needs.

Module 4 gate rack: which CAME motors it fits

The module is the size of the teeth. A module 4 rack fits only a motor with a module 4 pinion, and the gate must also be within the 600 kg rating of the rack.

Sliding gate rack installation Muscat: how we fit it

Most motor problems we see on sliding gates come from the rack, not the motor. We fit the CGZP in this order:

• We fix the motor base level and in line with the gate.
• We fix the first piece of rack with the gate closed, resting on the pinion.
• We join each new piece so the teeth keep the same spacing across the joint, using a short offcut to line them up.
• We set a small gap between the rack and the pinion along the whole length, so the gate weight never rests on the motor.
• We run the gate by hand from end to end and check that the pinion meshes evenly.

A rack that sits too low pushes the gate weight onto the motor shaft and wears the bearings. A joint with the wrong tooth spacing makes the gate jump at the same point every time. Both faults are easy to avoid at the start and costly to fix later.
