Description

The CAME G0601 is the original white painted aluminium boom for the CAME GARD G6000 road barrier. It has a rectangular 100 x 40 mm section and a total length of 6.85 metres, so one barrier can close a road far wider than a standard 4 m barrier can.

It is a replacement and installation boom, not a complete barrier. Check that your barrier is a G6000 before you order, because other CAME barriers of a similar length use a different boom.

What is the CAME G0601, and why a 100 x 40 mm section?

A longer boom carries more weight further from the barrier, and it must not sag or flex in the wind. The G0601 uses a deeper 100 x 40 mm aluminium section, against 60 x 40 mm on the 4 m G0401, so it stays straight and stiff over its full 6.85 m length.

The boom bolts to the boom flange on the G6000 cabinet, and the balancing springs inside carry its weight. The motor only has to move a boom that is already in balance, which is why the boom must be the one the barrier was designed for.

6 m barrier boom: cutting to length and fitting a boom rest

We cut the G0601 to your road width, so the boom closes the full opening without reaching further than it needs to. Every extra metre of boom adds weight at the far end, and that weight is what the springs, the gearbox and the motor must hold.

On a boom this long, a boom rest at the far end is strongly advised. It supports the closed boom so it does not bounce or sag, and it takes the load off the gearbox while the barrier is closed. Our engineers check the rest position when they set the boom.

Barrier boom balancing Muscat: why the springs must be reset

A barrier boom must be balanced, which means it stays still at any angle when the motor is released. Cutting the boom, or adding lights, rubber or a rest, changes the balance. A boom out of balance drifts up or down, the motor works harder on every cycle, and gears such as the CAME 119RIG051 slow shaft toothed wheel wear out early.

Wide road barrier Oman: where a 6 m boom is used

A G6000 with the G0601 boom closes roads that a standard barrier cannot: two lane entrances, truck gates at warehouses and factories, compound entrances, and the wide entries of hospitals, hotels and government sites. One long boom replaces two shorter barriers, so there is one motor, one control board and one set of safety devices to look after.

A long boom also catches more wind. On open sites on the coast, in Al Wusta, or in Dhofar during the khareef, ask us about wind before you choose the length.

How we replace the G0601

• We isolate the power and release the gearmotor with its key.
• We remove the damaged boom and check the boom flange and its bolts.
• We cut the new G0601 to your road width and bolt it to the flange.
• We set the travel stops so the boom sits level when closed and upright when open.
• We set the springs for the new length and accessories, then run the barrier through full cycles.

A vehicle strike that bends a boom often shocks the gearbox too. We check the gears and the slow shaft while the boom is off.

No. The G6500 and G6501 use the 001G06850 tubular boom. The G0601 is for the G6000.
