Description

The CAME G0401 is the white painted aluminium boom that CAME specifies for its GARD 4 barrier, models G4000, G4000N and G4001. The boom has a rectangular 60 x 40 mm section and is 4,200 mm long. It covers a road opening of up to 4 metres, or 3.5 metres once lights or protective rubber are fitted.

CAME lists the G0401 as a required accessory for the G4000: the barrier is sold without a boom, so every new GARD 4 needs one, and every boom bent by a vehicle needs replacing.

What is the CAME barrier boom, and why the G0401?

The boom is the arm that lifts and lowers across the road. On the GARD 4, it bolts to the boom flange on the side of the cabinet with four bolts, and the balancing spring inside the cabinet carries its weight. The motor only has to move a boom that is already in balance.

That is why the boom must be the right one. A heavier or longer boom than the barrier was set for overloads the spring, the gearbox and the motor. The G0401 is the boom CAME designed the G4000 around.

4 m barrier boom: length, cutting and spring balancing

The G0401 is supplied 4,200 mm long. CAME rates the G4000 for openings up to 4 m with a bare boom, and up to 3.5 m once accessories such as lights or rubber are fitted, because they add weight at the end of the boom.

We cut the boom to suit your road width, then set the balancing spring. CAME supplies the G4000 with the spring in position B, and the right position depends on the final boom length and on whether a boom rest or other accessories are fitted. A boom that is not balanced drifts up or down when the motor is released, and wears the gearbox and the motor.

G0401 or G0402: choosing a boom for wind

CAME offers a second boom for the G4000: the G0402, a round tubular aluminium boom with a 60 mm diameter, which CAME recommends for very windy zones. It needs the G0405 attachment.

• We isolate the power and release the gearmotor with its key.
• We remove the damaged boom and check the boom flange and its bolts for damage.
• We cut the new G0401 to your road width and bolt it to the flange with the four bolts.
• We set the horizontal and vertical positions with the internal travel stops.
• We set the balancing spring for the new length and accessories, then run the barrier through full cycles.
