CAME R001 DIN Key Lock Cylinder Oman, Secure Manual Release for CAME Motors
The CAME R001 (CAME 001R001) is a DIN key lock cylinder for the manual release lock of CAME automations. It means your gate, barrier or door can only be released by hand with its own DIN key, not with a common gate motor release key. CAME lists it with the BKV sliding motors, the GARD GT4 barrier and the TTS door range. OMR 24, in stock at our Muscat shop.
Description
The CAME R001 (code CAME 001R001) is a DIN key lock cylinder from CAME’s range of unlocking devices. It fits the manual release lock of a CAME automation, so the gate, barrier or door can only be released by hand with its own DIN key, not with a common gate motor release key that anyone can buy.
This cylinder is a small part that closes a real security gap. If your gate opens by hand with a standard key, anyone holding that kind of key can release it.
What is a manual release lock, and why does it matter?
Every automatic gate needs a manual release lock, so the gate can be opened by hand in a power cut or a fault. The release disconnects the motor from the gate. Once it is released, the gate slides or swings freely.
That is exactly why the release needs protecting. On many gate motors, the standard release uses a common key design. A gate motor release key of that kind is easy to find, so the release protects against accidents but not against someone who wants to get in.
| Standard release | Release with the CAME R001 |
|---|---|
| Opens with a common gate motor release key | Opens only with its own DIN key |
| Anyone with the same key type can free the gate | Only the key holder can free the gate |
| Fine for a private garden gate | Better for compounds, car parks and shared buildings |

DIN key lock cylinder: who needs one
A DIN key lock cylinder makes sense wherever the manual release lock should be in the hands of a few people only.
- Compounds and gated communities: residents use remotes, and only the guard or the facility manager holds the DIN key.
- Car parks and barriers: the barrier cannot be lifted by hand by anyone with a common gate motor release key.
- Warehouses and industrial doors: the door cannot be freed out of hours without the key.
- Villas with a gate on a public road: extra peace of mind when the family is travelling.
How to use the DIN key instead of a gate motor release key in a power cut
With a DIN key lock cylinder fitted, the release in a power cut works the same way as before, only with the DIN key:
- Insert the DIN key in the cylinder on the motor or the barrier and turn it.
- Open the release as shown in your motor manual. The gate is now free to move by hand.
- Move the gate gently. Never force it past its end stops.
- When the power returns, close the release again and turn the key back before using the remote.
Keep the DIN key somewhere you can reach it during a power cut, not inside the property behind the locked gate.
How we fit the CAME R001 DIN key lock cylinder
Our engineers confirm the motor model, isolate the power, and remove the existing release lock. They fit the CAME R001 DIN key lock cylinder in its place, check that the release opens and closes fully with the new key, and test the gate on the remote afterwards. If the release has been forced in the past, we check the mechanism behind it at the same time. We also note who holds each key, so a lost key is noticed early and the cylinder can be changed before anyone misuses it.
Dust, sand and salt: keeping the manual release lock working
A lock cylinder that is never used can seize, and in Oman sand and salt make that more likely. Test the release a few times a year, not only when the power fails.
| Problem | What helps |
|---|---|
| Sand in the keyway | Keep the cover over the cylinder closed, and blow out the keyway at every service |
| Salt air at coastal sites | A drop of dry lock lubricant at every service, never oil that traps dust |
| A key that turns stiffly | Do not force it, call us before it snaps |
| A lost DIN key | Call us, a new cylinder may be the safest answer |
