The CAME SELD1FDG (code CAME 806SL-0050) is a surface mounted key selector switch from the CAME SEL range: a gate key switch with a DIN cylinder that opens your gate, garage door or barrier with a turn of the key. This DIN key selector is backlit in blue, rated IP44, and switches 3 A at 24V.

A key selector switch gives a second, secure way to open the gate without a remote, for family members, staff, deliveries or the guard.

Why fit a gate key switch next to your remotes?

Remotes get lost, run flat or go with the car. A gate key switch on the pillar means anyone you trust with a key can always open the gate, and nobody without one can.

A key selector switch is also a good backup for older family members and for children old enough to come home alone: a key on the house key ring is harder to lose than a remote, and it never needs a battery. DIN key selector: surface or recessed

CAME makes the SEL key selector in two versions. They work the same way. The difference is how they fit on the pillar.

For most existing gates in Oman, the surface mounted DIN key selector is the simpler choice: no cutting into the pillar, and a neat finish.

How the key selector switch connects to the board

The key selector switch works like a push button with a lock. Turning the key closes a contact, and the control board reads that as a command. On CAME boards, the contacts are usually wired to the open command, and a second position can be wired to stop or to a partial opening, depending on the board. If you want the key to open only the pedestrian gap, not the full gate, we wire it to the partial opening input where the board has one.

How we fit the CAME SELD1FDG gate key switch

• We choose a spot on the pillar on the street side, at a comfortable height and within reach from a car window where that helps.
• We fix the selector to the pillar face with the hardware supplied.
• We run the cable to the control board in conduit, out of the sun.
• We wire the contacts to the open input, and the second position to the function you want.
• We test both positions, then hand over the two keys and note who holds them.

If the key selector switch is the only way into the property without a remote, we place it where the backlight is visible from the road.

Dust, sand and salt: keeping a DIN key selector working

A key cylinder outdoors in Oman collects fine sand, and coastal salt can make it stiff. The CAME SELD1FDG is rated IP44 against dust and splashing water, and a few habits keep it turning smoothly.
