Sliding gate motor 400 kg in Oman: weight and length

CAME lists the motor for gates up to 400 kg. The description says gates up to 10 m, and the specification says up to 14 m, so we treat the shorter figure as the safe one until we confirm. Weight is the limit that matters most, because a sliding gate moves on its rollers and track.

The motor should only drive a gate that already rolls easily by hand. If you can push it with one finger, it is ready for a motor. If it sticks, the motor will wear out trying to move it.

Rack length for a sliding gate: why 4 m may not be enough

The rack is the toothed strip fixed along the gate. The motor pinion runs on it, so the rack must cover the full length that the gate leaf travels. The kit includes a 4 m nylon rack, which suits a short leaf. A longer leaf needs more rack, joined in line.

The listing gives a usage intensity of 30%. That means the motor is built to run for about a third of the time, in short cycles, with rest in between. It suits a private home. It does not suit a gate that opens all day.
