The Nice Thor 1500 (model Nice TH1500) is a 1500 kg sliding gate motor from Nice, for gates up to 12 m long, sold as a complete kit with two ON2E remotes, an OXI receiver, a pair of Nice EPM photocells, a flashing light, a push button and four nylon rack sections. Built on a die cast aluminium base with steel and bronze alloy gears, it is a strong, simple motor for a long sliding gate at a villa, compound or warehouse.

It is the lowest priced way into a 1500 kg rating in our Nice range.

What is in the Nice Thor 1500 kit?

The four nylon rack sections cover a gate opening of about 3 m. A long sliding gate needs more rack, and on gates near 1500 kg we recommend a steel rack instead of nylon. We quote both after we see the gate.

The Nice TH1500 uses steel and bronze alloy gears, which last far longer under load than the plastic gears in light home motors. The die cast aluminium base keeps everything aligned, so the pinion meets the rack correctly for years.

Nice EPM photocells and automatic closing

The control unit closes the gate automatically after a pause, and the Nice EPM photocells keep that safe: if a car or a person breaks the beam, the gate stops and opens again. The Thor also supports photocell controlled closing, where the gate closes a few seconds after a car has passed the Nice EPM photocells, instead of waiting for the full pause time.

For a long sliding gate we often add a second pair of photocells along the gate path, so the whole length is protected.

How we install a 1500 kg sliding gate motor

• We check the gate first: wheels, track, top guides and end stops must suit the weight.
• We cast a concrete base, level and in line with the gate, with conduits for the cables.
• We fix the motor and the rack, nylon or steel, with the pinion set just below the rack so the gate weight never rests on the motor.
• We set the limits, and fit the Nice EPM photocells, the flashing light and the push button.
• We pair both ON2E remotes, set the automatic closing time, and test the photocells while the gate closes.
