The CAME AXI25DGS, CAME code 801MP-0040, is a 24V DC irreversible swing gate motor with an encoder, for gates with leaves up to 2.5 metres long and 250 kg. It opens to 90 degrees in 15 seconds, carries a 50% duty rating and has an IP44 rating. CAME lists it for intensive service.

Three points come first. We supply it as a single motor, so a double gate needs two. It is a 24V motor, so it needs a 24V control board, not a 230V one. And it is built for leaves up to 2.5 m, so a long villa leaf needs a different motor.

CAME also sells the motor in two twin kits, 8K01MP-015 and 8K01MP-006. They include two motors, the 002ZL65 panel, DIR10 photocells, an AF43S radio card and the CAME TOP44RBN remote, and one version adds an LED flashing light. We tell you plainly which parts we supply.

2.5 m leaves and 250 kg: is the CAME AXI25DGS right for your gate

CAME rates the motor for a leaf up to 2.5 metres and 250 kg. Its limits table also appears to allow 300 kg on a shorter leaf of 1.8 m. The pairing is not labelled on CAME’s page, so we confirm the figure for your leaf before we quote.

We ask for the weight and the length of each leaf, and we allow for wind on solid sheet.

Pillar offset and fitting the CAME AXI25DGS

The supplier lists a maximum C dimension of 60 mm, which is the offset between the pillar face and the hinge line. A small offset suits a gate with its hinge close to the pillar, and a large offset needs a different motor. CAME’s own dimension tables are unclear in the data we have, so we measure your pillars on site before we quote.

Send photos of both pillars with a tape across the offset and the depth, and we confirm the fit before you order.

24V DC swing gate motor: what it changes on site

A 24V motor runs on low voltage from a control board that is fed by mains. It draws 120 W, and up to 5 A on the 24V side. The low voltage is safer to handle and suits gates that open often. It also lets a backup supply keep the gate moving when the mains fails.

50% duty, an encoder and a 15 second opening

CAME lists a 50% duty rating and says the motor suits intensive service. It also fits an encoder, so the board knows where the leaf is, slows it near each end and reacts to an obstacle. The opening time to 90 degrees is 15 seconds, and CAME marks the figure with an asterisk that its page does not explain, so we confirm it on your gate.

Battery backup and power cuts on a CAME 24V swing motor

CAME lists a Green Power Module, code 806XG-0160, as an accessory. An Italian line on CAME’s page says the 24V unit keeps working in a blackout, but it does not say for how many cycles or how. We confirm what the module does with CAME before we promise that your gate opens in a power cut.

Whatever the backup, we fit the manual release where you can reach it. CAME lists a remote release case with a 5 m cord and a pull cord release as accessories, and we quote them with the motor.

CAME AXI25DGS control boards, CONNECT and safety

CAME names three 24V control boards for this motor. We choose one for your gate.

CAME also describes CONNECT remote control and a snap in card slot for the RIO System 2.0. Photocells stop the gate closing on a car or a person, and a flashing lamp warns people before it moves. A safety edge is worth adding where a leaf closes toward a wall or a footpath.

CAME AXI25DGS remotes: the TOP44RBN in CAME’s kits

CAME’s kits include the 806TS-0270, which is the CAME TOP44RBN, a four channel rolling code remote on 433.92 MHz. A CAME receiver pairs only with CAME handsets, so Somfy, BFT and Nice remotes cannot pair with it. We programme the handsets to the board, and we can add more.

IP44, heat and sand: the CAME AXI25DGS in Oman

IP44 protects against solid objects and splashing water, and it is lower than IP54 on some other swing kits. The motor works from minus 20 to plus 55°C, in RAL7024 grey. We mount it clear of standing water, in shade where we can, and we seal the cable entries. Coastal sites in Sohar, Sur and Salalah add salt, which attacks pivots first, so keep the hinges greased.
