Description

The CAME SUPER FROG is a pair of irreversible underground swing gate motors for very long leaves, up to 8 metres and 600 kg. The right hand motor is the 001FROG-MD and the left hand motor is the 001FROG-MS. Each is buried in a foundation box at the base of a pillar, so no arm or motor shows above ground. CAME lists an IP67 rating and a 50% duty.

Three points come first. The SUPER FROG runs on three phase power, which most houses do not have, so we check your supply before you buy. It is slow, at 45 seconds to open, because the leaves are big. And the work needs digging and drainage, so our engineers do it.

Three phase swing gate motor: what your site needs

CAME lists the SUPER FROG as a 230/400V three phase gearmotor, at 50 or 60 Hz. A three phase supply has three live conductors. Most houses have one, and many farms, factories and large estates have three. The motor will not run from a single phase supply.

CAME lists the control panel for this motor, the 002ZM3ES, as a 400V panel. We confirm that your supply and your panel match.

8 m leaves and 600 kg: is the CAME SUPER FROG right for your gate

CAME rates the motors for leaves up to 8 metres and 600 kg. Its limits table appears to allow a heavier leaf if it is shorter, with about 700 kg at 7 m, 800 kg at 6 m, 1000 kg at 5 m and 1200 kg at 4 m. The family page says up to 1500 kg, which applies only to leaves shorter than 4 m. The table has no labels, so we confirm the figure for your leaf before we quote.

We ask for the weight and the length of each leaf, and we allow for wind. An 8 m leaf catches a great deal of wind, so we check the hinges, the pillars and the foundation as well.

Foundation box and drainage for the CAME SUPER FROG

The foundation box is a buried casing that holds the motor and takes the load of the leaf. CAME names the 001FROG-CD for the right hand motor, in cataphoresis treated steel, with a left hand counterpart for the other leaf. The box must be set level in the ground before the motor goes in, with a drainage path and a cable duct.

A big leaf puts a big load on the box, so the concrete must be sound. We survey the ground before we quote. A coastal site or a driveway that floods needs extra preparation, so tell us if yours does.

600 W, 45 seconds and 50% duty on the SUPER FROG

CAME lists 600 W and up to 2.5 A on a three phase supply. The opening time to 90 degrees is 45 seconds, and the duty is 50%, so each motor can run about half the time. A slow, gentle swing is kind to an 8 m leaf and its hinges, and it suits a long entrance. It does not suit a gate that must clear quickly for a queue of cars.

Mechanical limit switches, irreversible gearmotor and CONNECT

CAME fits adjustable mechanical limit switches to the motor, which set the end positions of the leaf. The gearmotor is irreversible, so the leaf stays shut when the motor stops. CAME also lists CONNECT remote control through a gateway or the CAME KEY, a CXN BUS two wire connection, and a snap in card slot for the RIO System 2.0.

CAME tests the automation against European impact force standards. A very long leaf catches the wind, so an electric lock is worth having, and we quote one where it is needed.

IP67, flood water and sand: the CAME SUPER FROG in Oman

IP67 means the motor is sealed against dust and can survive temporary immersion, which matters for a buried motor in Oman, where heavy rain can flood a driveway in minutes. The motor works from minus 20 to plus 55°C. IP67 does not remove the need for drainage, so we build a drainage path at each pit, and show you how to clear it once a year.

Power cuts and the CAME SUPER FROG

This is a mains motor on three phase, with no battery backup listed. A power cut leaves the leaf where it stopped, held by the irreversible gearmotor, and we release it with the manual release. We keep the key where you can reach it and show everyone in the house how it works. If a backup matters to you, ask us, and we point you to a 24V swing motor for smaller gates.
