When to buy the ARES BT A1000 motor on its own

This listing is the operator only. There are no remotes, no photocells and no rack in the box. So it makes sense in three situations.

• A replacement. Your ARES gearbox has failed, but the rack, photocells, remotes and foundation all still work.
• A part build. You already hold accessories from another job, or you want to specify better ones than a kit provides.
• A steel rack build. You intend to fit galvanised rack anyway, so the four metres of nylon in the kit would go to waste.

If none of those apply, buy the ARES BT A1000 kit instead. It works out cheaper than assembling the same parts one at a time.

The control unit does come built into the operator, so you do not need a separate board. However, if you are starting from bare ground rather than replacing, price the rest before you commit.

Will your existing rack fit the ARES BT A1000 motor?

Usually yes, but check one thing first. This pinion is module 4, so the rack must also be module 4. Module 6 rack from another brand or another job will not engage at all.

Then check length and wear. Rack runs the full length of the gate leaf, not the opening width. Also look along the teeth for rounding, because a rack worn by a failing motor will chew a new pinion quickly.

Reusing your foundation when replacing an ARES BT A1000 motor

• Bolt pattern. An ARES footprint differs from a Deimos or a CAME footprint.
• Height. The pinion must meet the rack at the right depth, so a foundation set for a different motor may sit too low or too high.
• Condition. Cracked concrete or a rusted plate will not hold a 1000 kg gate under load.

IP24 and dust, siting a BFT sliding gate motor in Oman

IP24 appears on every listing of this motor, but nobody explains it. The 4 means the casing resists splashing water from any direction. However, the 2 covers only solid objects above 12.5 mm. In short, that rating carries no dust protection at all.

This matters more on a replacement than on a new build, because dust is often what killed the last one. So set the operator clear of ground level, keep the cover seal and cable glands intact, then book a service clean before a fault appears. The 55 C ceiling is real too, so give the unit shade where the site allows.

On a replacement, most of the work is diagnosis rather than groundwork. First, confirm the old failure was the gearbox and not the board or a limit switch. Then check the rack and the foundation as above. Next, set the limits and tune the slowdown to the real leaf weight instead of leaving it at default.
