The CAME CGZ (code 009CGZ) is a module 4 rack for sliding gates, made of galvanised steel with a solid 22 x 22 mm section and sold in 1 m pieces. It is the rack for heavy gates: a CAME distributor rates it for CAME motors on gates up to 1,800 kg.

The rack is the toothed bar along the gate that the pinion on the motor drives. On a heavy gate, a steel rack keeps its shape under load where a nylon rack would wear or flex.

Steel gate rack or nylon: which does your gate need?

We stock both CAME racks in module 4. The gate weight decides between them.

For a light villa gate under 600 kg, the nylon CGZP is quieter and cheaper. For a heavy steel gate, a commercial gate, or any gate close to 600 kg, choose the steel CGZ.

CAME CGZ price in Oman: how many metres you need

Price: OMR 14.000 per 1 m piece, in stock at our shop in Al Khuwair, Muscat.

The rack must run the full travel of the gate, plus enough to stay on the pinion when the gate is fully open and fully closed. As a simple rule, order one metre more than your gate opening, rounded up to the next whole metre.

The CGZ is module 4, so it fits only motors with a module 4 pinion.

Galvanised rack 22 x 22: welded or bolted

The CGZ has a solid 22 x 22 mm section. It is fixed by welding, either straight to the gate frame or to short brackets welded to the gate, which lets us set the height exactly. If your gate cannot be welded, CAME makes a bolt on steel rack, the CGZS, with holes and spacers. Ask us and we suggest the right one.

Rack welding Muscat: how we fit the CGZ

• We fix the motor base level and in line with the gate.
• We tack the first piece of rack with the gate closed, resting on the pinion.
• We join each new piece so the teeth keep the same spacing across the joint, using a short offcut to line them up.
• We set a small gap between the rack and the pinion along the whole length, so the gate weight never rests on the motor.
• We run the gate by hand from end to end, then finish the welds.
• We clean every weld and cut end, and paint it with zinc rich paint.

A rack that sits too low pushes the weight of a heavy gate onto the motor shaft and wears the bearings. A joint with the wrong tooth spacing makes the gate jump at the same point every time. On a heavy gate, both faults wear the motor fast.

Should I choose the steel CGZ or the nylon CGZP?

Choose the nylon CGZP for light gates under 600 kg. Choose the steel CGZ for heavy steel gates, commercial gates and any gate close to 600 kg or above.

How many metres of rack do I need?

Order one metre more than your gate opening and round up. A 6 m opening needs 7 pieces.

Is the CGZ welded or bolted?

It is welded, directly to the gate or on brackets. For a bolt on steel rack, CAME makes the CGZS with holes and spacers.
