CAME CGZ6 Steel Gate Rack Oman, Module 6 Galvanised 30 x 30 mm, 1 m
The CAME CGZ6 (009CGZ6) is a module 6 galvanised steel rack with a solid 30 x 30 mm section, sold in 1 m pieces for welding. It is the rack for the heaviest sliding gates, on motors with a module 6 pinion such as the CAME BY-3500T. It will not mesh with a module 4 motor, so check your pinion first. Order one metre more than your gate opening. OMR 20 per metre, in stock at our Muscat shop.
Description
The CAME CGZ6 (code 009CGZ6) is a module 6 rack for sliding gates, made of galvanised laminated steel with a solid 30 x 30 mm section. It is sold in 1 m pieces and is welded to the gate. It is the rack for the heaviest sliding gates, on motors with a module 6 pinion such as the CAME BY-3500T.
Module 6 teeth are larger than the module 4 teeth on most gate motors. The CGZ6 fits only a module 6 pinion, so check your motor before you order.
Module 6 gate rack: what the module means
The module is the size of the teeth. The distance from one tooth to the next is the module multiplied by pi, so the two sizes are easy to tell apart with a tape measure:
| Module | Tooth spacing | Typical CAME rack | Typical gate |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | About 12.6 mm | CGZP nylon or CGZ steel | Villa and commercial gates |
| 6 | About 18.8 mm | CGZ6 steel | Very heavy industrial gates |
A rack and a pinion of different modules will not mesh at all. Measure across ten teeth on your old rack: about 126 mm means module 4, about 188 mm means module 6.
CAME CGZ6 price in Oman: how many metres you need
Price: OMR 20.000 per 1 m piece, in stock at our shop in Al Khuwair, Muscat.
Order one metre more than your gate opening, rounded up to the next whole metre, so the rack stays on the pinion at both ends.
| Gate opening | Pieces to order | Rack cost |
|---|---|---|
| 6 m | 7 | OMR 140.000 |
| 8 m | 9 | OMR 180.000 |

CAME BY-3500T rack: which motors the CGZ6 fits
| Your motor | Our advice |
|---|---|
| CAME BY-3500T, rated for gates up to 3,500 kg | The CGZ6 |
| Another motor with a module 6 pinion | The CGZ6, after we check the pinion |
| CAME BX or a BK with a module 4 pinion | Not the CGZ6. Use the CAME CGZ steel or the CAME CGZP nylon rack |
| Not sure | Send us a photo of the pinion and the motor label |

Industrial sliding gate rack: where the CGZ6 is used
Gates heavy enough for a module 6 rack are found at factories, warehouses, ports, logistics yards and large compounds: long steel gates, often over 10 m, that trucks pass through all day. On these gates, a solid 30 x 30 mm rack keeps its shape under the load and the constant cycles, where a smaller rack would wear its teeth.
Galvanised rack 30 x 30: how we weld and fit it
- We fix the motor base level and in line with the gate, on a concrete base sized for the motor.
- We tack the first piece with the gate closed, resting on the pinion.
- We join each new piece so the teeth keep the same spacing across the joint, using a short offcut to line them up.
- We set a small gap between the rack and the pinion along the whole length, so the gate weight never rests on the motor.
- We run the gate from end to end, then finish the welds.
- We clean every weld and cut end and paint it with zinc rich paint.
On a gate this heavy, a rack that sits low or a badly spaced joint loads the motor gearbox on every cycle. Getting the rack right at the start protects a costly motor.
Salt, sand and heavy use in Oman
| What affects the rack | What helps |
|---|---|
| Rust at welds and cut ends | Zinc rich paint on every weld and cut, checked each year |
| Salt air at Sohar, Sur, Salalah and Duqm ports | Rinse the rack and repaint rust spots at every service |
| Sand and grit between the teeth | Brush the rack clean at every service |
| Worn gate wheels on a heavy gate | Check the wheels and the track so the rack does not press on the pinion |
