Description

The CAME AMICO is a 230V swing gate motor twin kit for small double gates with leaves up to 1.8 metres long and 200 kg. It is a low power motor, drawing 80 W and 1.2 A, with adjustable mechanical limit switches in the housing and a die cast aluminium body. It opens to 90 degrees in 19 seconds, carries a 50% duty rating and an IP44 rating.

Two points come first. It is a small motor for light leaves, so we check the weight and the length before we quote. And the supplier gives no stroke or arm type, so we measure your pillars on site.

1.8 m leaves and 200 kg: is the CAME AMICO right for your gate

The supplier rates the kit for leaves up to 1.8 metres and 200 kg. That suits a garden gate, a small driveway gate or a light aluminium leaf. It does not suit a standard villa leaf of 3 m or more.

We ask for the weight and the length of each leaf, and we allow for wind on solid sheet.

Low power 80 W swing gate motor: what it means for your gate

The motor draws only 80 W on a 230V, 50 or 60 Hz supply, which keeps the running cost low and the motion gentle. The thrust is listed as 400 to 2000 N, a range that the control board sets for your gate. The opening time to 90 degrees is 19 seconds, and the maximum opening is 120 degrees.

Mechanical limit switches, one cable and trilobe release

The motor has adjustable mechanical limit switches built into the housing, which set the end positions of the leaf. A single three conductor cable runs from the board to each motor, which shortens the cabling job. The release works with a trilobe key, so you can open the leaf by hand in a power cut.

The supplier lists the motor as operable during a power outage. It is a 230V motor and names no battery, so we do not promise that the gate opens by itself when the power fails. We keep the release key where you can reach it.

Pillar depth, hinge position and opening angle for the AMICO

An arm mounted motor needs clear depth from the hinge to the inside face of the pillar, so the arm can travel through its stroke. The supplier does not give the arm type or the stroke, so we cannot check your pillars against a number from the page. We measure on site and ask CAME for the figures.

Send photos of both pillars with a tape across the depth, and we confirm the fit before you order.

CAME AMICO, AXI20DGS or KRONO: choosing a swing gate kit

You may be comparing several twin kits. The table shows only what each source publishes.

The AMICO is the quietest and lowest power, with limit switches in the housing. The AXI20DGS and the KRONO take bigger leaves for less money. Remotes, Bluebus photocells and safety in the kit

A CAME receiver pairs only with CAME handsets, so Somfy, BFT and Nice remotes cannot pair with it. We programme the remotes to the board, and we can add more handsets. The supplier does not name the remote model, so we confirm it before you pay. See the CAME remote controls.

The Bluebus photocells stop the gate closing on a car or a person, and the flashing light warns people before it moves. A safety edge is worth adding where a leaf closes toward a wall or a footpath.

230V only: the CAME AMICO and power cuts

The supplier lists the kit as 230V only. It runs on mains power, and a power cut leaves the leaf where it stopped. We release it with the trilobe key and keep the key where you can reach it. If a battery backup matters to you, ask us, and we point you to a 24V swing motor.

IP44, heat and sand: the CAME AMICO in Oman

IP44 protects against solid objects and splashing water, and it is lower than IP54 on some other swing kits. The motor works from minus 20 to plus 55°C and has thermal protection at 150°C. The die cast aluminium body resists corrosion. We mount the motors clear of standing water, in shade where we can, and we seal the cable entries. Coastal sites in Sohar, Sur and Salalah add salt, which attacks pivots first, so keep the hinges greased.
