The CAME FTX20DGC, CAME code 801MB-0130, is a 24V irreversible swing gate motor with an articulated arm and an encoder, for leaves up to 2 metres long and 200 kg. Its control board, with a function display and a radio decoder, is built into the motor, so a single leaf gate needs no separate panel. CAME calls it a fast version, rated for 40 cycles an hour.

Three points come first. This is the master motor, so a double gate also needs the 801MB-0140 slave. It is a light duty motor, so we check the weight and the length of your leaf before we quote. And it draws 24V from a 230V supply, so a power cut stops it unless you add the battery board.

2 m leaves and 200 kg: is the CAME FTX20DGC right for your gate

CAME rates the motor for a leaf up to 2 metres and 200 kg. Its limits table appears to allow a slightly heavier leaf if it is shorter, with about 225 kg at 1.7 m, 230 kg at 1.5 m and 250 kg at 1 m. The table has no labels, so we confirm the figure for your leaf before we quote.

We ask for the weight and the length of each leaf, and we allow for wind on solid sheet.

Articulated arm, 150 mm offset and the opening angle

The motor pushes the leaf through an articulated transmission arm. CAME gives a maximum C dimension of 150 mm, which is the offset between the pillar face and the hinge line. With an accessory, 801XC-0070, the offset can reach 300 mm. CAME’s dimension table lists openings of 90 and 110 degrees.

CAME also lists a drive arm and track, 001STYLO-BD. We confirm which arm your gate needs, and whether it is in your price. Send photos of both pillars with a tape across the offset and the depth, and we confirm the fit before you order.

24V brushless, 140 W, 180 N and 40 cycles an hour

The motor runs at 24V DC from a 230V, 50 or 60 Hz supply. CAME lists 140 W and a current of up to 4 A, and the two figures do not match exactly at 24V, so we confirm them before the electrician sizes the cable. The thrust is 180 N, which suits a light leaf. The opening time to 90 degrees is 13 to 30 seconds, and the duty is 40 cycles an hour, about one full open and close every minute and a half.

Built in control board, radio decoder and CONNECT on the FTX20DGC

The control board, with a function display and a radio decoder, is built into the motor. That removes the separate panel and shortens the cabling. CAME also lists CONNECT remote control through a gateway or the CAME KEY, an encoder, CXN BUS compatibility and a snap in card slot for the RIO System 2.0.

The radio decoder pairs with CAME handsets only. CAME’s kit includes the CAME TOP44RBN, a four channel rolling code remote on 433.92 MHz. Somfy, BFT and Nice remotes cannot pair with it. We programme the handsets to the board, and we can add more.

Battery backup for the CAME FTX20DGC in a power cut

This motor is fed from mains, so a power cut stops it. CAME lists an emergency battery board, 002RLB, for 24V motors as an accessory, and it is the part that lets the gate keep working. We confirm which board suits your gate, and how many cycles the battery gives, before we promise it.

Without the board, the leaf is released with the manual release. CAME lists a remote release case, a pull cord release and single and double cylinder electric locks, and we quote them where they are needed. Keep the release key where you can reach it.

CAME FTX20DGC or the AXI25DGS and FAST FA70230: choosing a light swing motor

The FTX20DGC has the board inside the motor and a published battery option, but it takes the smallest leaf. The AXI25DGS is stronger. Ask us to compare them for your gate.

IP44, heat and sand: the CAME FTX20DGC in Oman

IP44 protects against solid objects and splashing water, and it is lower than IP54 on some other swing motors. The motor works from minus 20 to plus 55°C, in RAL7024 grey. We mount it clear of standing water, in shade where we can, and we seal the cable entries. Because the board is in the motor, we shade it from direct summer sun. Coastal sites in Sohar, Sur and Salalah add salt, which attacks pivots first, so keep the hinges greased.
