Description

The CAME KLED24 is a 24V flashing light from the CAME KIARO range: an LED warning light that flashes while your gate, garage door or barrier is moving, so drivers and people nearby know to keep clear. As a gate flashing light it runs on 24V AC/DC, draws only 2 W and is rated IP54.

The CAME KLED24 needs a 24V supply from the control board. If your board has a 230V lamp output, you need the 230V version of the CAME KIARO, the KLED, so check your board before you order.

Why every automatic gate needs a gate flashing light

A gate flashing light is the warning that the gate is about to move or is already moving. An automatic gate can start at any moment, opened by a remote, a timer or a loop detector, and it moves quietly. Without a warning, a child on a bicycle, a driver reversing out, or a neighbour walking past has no idea it is coming.

Photocells stop the gate when something is in the way. The gate flashing light stops people walking into the way in the first place. A safe installation has both.

24V flashing light or 230V: which CAME KIARO model you need

CAME makes the KIARO in two versions. The only difference that matters on site is the supply your control board sends to the lamp terminals.

A 24V flashing light on a 230V lamp output burns out at once, and a 230V light on a 24V output stays dark. The lamp output is marked on the board and in its manual. Send us a photo of your control board and we confirm the right CAME KIARO before you pay.

The CAME KIARO as a gate flashing light and an antenna mount

Inside the CAME KLED24 there is a brace for a CAME radio antenna. CAME lists the TOP-A433N antenna for 433.92 MHz remotes and the TOP-A862N for 868 MHz remotes. Neither is included with the light.

Fitting the antenna in the light puts it high on the pillar, clear of the gate and the walls, which often adds a lot of range to your remotes. If your remotes only work close to the gate, an antenna in the CAME KIARO is one of the cheapest fixes. Ask us, and see the CAME AF43S radio receiver card and our CAME remote controls.

Where to mount the LED warning light

The LED warning light must be seen from both sides of the gate: by drivers on the road and by people inside the property. The usual place is the top of a gate pillar, on the side where the motor is.

How we fit the CAME KLED24 LED warning light

• We run the cable from the control board to the pillar in conduit, out of the sun.
• We open the light and drill the base from the underside for the cable entry.
• We fix the base to the pillar, or to the KiaroS bracket on a wall, with suitable plugs and screws.
• We connect the cable to the terminals on the board inside the 24V flashing light.
• CAME asks for a 630 mA safety fuse where the operator does not already have one, so we check this.
• We fit the antenna if you have one, close the dome and test the light through a full open and close cycle.

The CAME KIARO in the Oman heat: what to know

CAME rates the KLED24 for working temperatures from minus 20 to plus 50°C, and the light works at a 50% intermittence. LEDs cope with heat far better than old filament bulbs, and they last much longer. On a pillar top in full summer sun, though, the dome can get hotter than the air around it.
