The BFT ICARO SMART AC A2000 is an industrial sliding gate motor built for gates up to 2000 kg running at very intensive duty. It is one of the heaviest operators BFT makes for the sliding range, and it ships as a genuine kit rather than a bare motor.

Two things to weigh before ordering. It is rated IP24, lower than the IP44 rating on our lighter sliding operators, so it needs a covered mounting position. And the included rack covers 4 metres, which will not be enough on many industrial leaf lengths this motor is actually rated for.

Unlike most sliding gate motors on this site, the ICARO SMART AC A2000 is sold as a complete kit, not a bare operator.

Not included: additional rack beyond 4 metres, safety edge, warning beacon separate from the standard flashing light, concrete foundation and mains cabling. Extra rack and safety devices come from accessories, and extra handsets from remote controls.

Why 4 metres of rack is rarely enough for a BFT ICARO 2000kg sliding gate motor

Rack runs the full length of the gate leaf, not the width of the opening. A gate rated to need a 2000 kg operator is very often a long industrial leaf, 6, 8 or even 10 metres, well beyond the 4 metres supplied in the kit.

Measure your leaf length before ordering and we will quote the extra module 4 rack alongside the motor, so the whole job arrives together rather than in two trips.

IP24 and running a BFT sliding gate motor kit in the Omani climate

IP24 protects against dripping and splashing water from a limited angle, not driving rain or a washdown. On a residential gate under a canopy that is rarely an issue. On an industrial yard gate standing in the open, it matters.

We mount the operator under a small canopy or inside a housing on any exposed site, and we check the enclosure seal carefully on coastal installations in Sohar, Sur and Salalah, where salt air finds its way into anything not sealed properly. Inland at Nizwa and Duqm, blown dust and summer heat are the bigger concern for a board running at very intensive duty.

D-Track, the encoder and the mechanical clutch, how a 2000 kg gate stops safely

At this weight, obstacle detection is not optional. The ICARO SMART AC A2000 combines BFT D-Track torque management with a relative encoder and a mechanical clutch, so the operator senses resistance and reacts through two independent systems rather than one.

We set and test this under load during commissioning, on the actual gate rather than on the bench, because obstacle sensing calibrated for a light gate will not behave correctly on a heavy one.

How fast a 2000 kg BFT sliding gate motor actually moves

At 9 metres per minute, a heavy industrial gate opens more slowly than the lighter DEIMOS or ARES range, which is normal for the weight class. These are our own calculations from the published speed.

Add a few seconds either end for BFT’s built in slowdown, which cushions the gate before it reaches its stops.

Only if your leaf is 4 metres or shorter. Rack runs the full leaf length, not the opening width, and industrial gates rated for a 2000 kg operator are often longer. Send us the leaf length and we will quote extra rack alongside the motor.

Can the BFT ICARO SMART AC A2000 be mounted outdoors with no cover?

It is rated IP24, which covers dripping and light splashing from a limited angle, not driving rain or washdown. We recommend a canopy or housing on any site left fully exposed to Omani weather.
