The BFT ELI BT A40 is a 24V underground swing gate motor, mounted in a foundation box below the gate so nothing is visible when closed. It runs on battery friendly 24V power and is rated for continuous cycling, well beyond what the mains powered AC version offers.

One requirement decides whether this motor alone is enough for your gate. It covers leaves up to 4 metres wide, but only up to 2.5 metres without an electric lock. Past 2.5 metres, an electric lock has to be added to hold the leaf closed.

BFT ELI BT A40, why gates over 2.5 metres need an electric lock

The motor’s own holding force is enough to keep a shorter leaf closed against normal wind and pressure. Past 2.5 metres, the leverage on a longer leaf works against that holding force more than the motor alone is rated to resist, so BFT specifies an electric lock to take that job over.

Like every underground BFT operator, this motor sits in a foundation box cast into concrete at the hinge point, and that box has to go in before the final paving or driveway surface is laid. Retrofitting it to a finished driveway means breaking the surface out again.
