RFID Access Control K16EM-W in Oman | Reader, Keypad or Standalone

Description

The K16EM-W is an RFID access control keypad that isn’t locked into one role. Wire it standalone and its own relay switches the lock directly, the same job as our plastic and metal keypads. Wire it in reader mode instead and it becomes a Wiegand output reader feeding a separate door controller, the same role as our bare Wiegand reader. One unit covers both jobs.

Three modes, one keypad

Standalone mode suits a single door with no plans to expand. Reader mode suits a site that already has, or will have, a networked controller managing several doors together. Relay toggle mode is a wiring variant for locks that need a toggle signal rather than a timed pulse. Tell us which one your site needs and we will set it up correctly before it leaves our shop.

What it reads and how many people it holds

Reads standard 125KHz EM cards, the same format as our own RFID cards, and holds around 2,000 users in standalone mode, added from the keypad itself with a master code. Card, PIN, or both together are all supported.

Indoor or outdoor

Rated IP65, suitable for a sheltered outdoor mount as well as indoor use. If the door is fully exposed to direct rain with no overhang at all, our IP68 metal keypad carries a higher rating for that specific case.

What it switches

The built-in relay in standalone mode is rated for a single standard door lock — an electric strike or a light-duty 180 kg magnetic lock, not a heavy commercial maglock bank. For anything heavier, run it in reader mode into one of our door controllers instead.

Common questions

Can I change how it’s wired after installation?
Yes, in principle — the mode is a wiring and configuration setting, not a hardware limitation. In practice it’s easier to decide the mode before installation, since switching later means re-running cable if the door didn’t originally have a controller nearby.

What’s the difference between this and your plastic keypad?
This unit can also run in reader mode for a networked system; the plastic keypad is standalone only. If you’re certain the door will only ever be one standalone unit, the plastic keypad is the simpler and cheaper choice.

Can it drive a heavy-duty maglock directly?
Not in standalone mode — the built-in relay is rated for a single standard door lock. For a heavier maglock, wire it in reader mode into a door controller with its own relay board.
