BFT Rotating Plate and Arm Holder Kit Oman, Moovi Barrier
The BFT rotating plate and arm holder kit is the genuine spare connecting a Moovi 30 or Moovi 60 barrier’s motor shaft to the boom arm. It includes the rotating plate, the arm holder and an installation manual. Fitting a new one changes the boom’s balance against its counterweight spring, so we rebalance the spring after replacement rather than treat it as a simple bolt on part. Supplied and fitted across Oman by Doors Auto.
Description
The BFT rotating plate and arm holder kit is the mechanical link between a Moovi 30 or Moovi 60 barrier’s motor and the boom arm itself. The rotating plate bolts to the motor’s output shaft, and the arm holder clamps the boom to that plate, converting the motor’s turning force into the boom’s swing from horizontal to vertical.
This is not a part you simply unbolt and replace like for like. Once a new plate and holder are fitted, the boom’s leverage against its counterbalance spring changes slightly, and the spring tension needs rechecking, not left on the setting from the old part.
BFT Moovi boom arm spare: what the rotating plate and arm holder actually do
Every time a barrier opens or closes, the full weight of the boom passes through this one joint. The rotating plate carries the drive from the gearbox, and the arm holder is the clamp that grips the boom itself, usually with a wedge or bolt arrangement that lets the boom angle be adjusted slightly during commissioning so it sits level when closed.
Because this joint carries every cycle’s full load, it is one of the first mechanical parts to show wear on a barrier used heavily, well before the motor or gearbox typically fail.
Why this part wears out before the motor does
A boom barrier at a busy compound entrance or a paid car park can cycle hundreds of times a day, and every cycle puts a swinging load through the rotating plate and arm holder joint. Over years, the clamp bolts loosen, the plate’s mounting holes elongate slightly from repeated stress, and the joint develops play.
The most common symptom is a boom that no longer sits level when closed, drifting to one side over weeks or months even after being re-levelled. A second common symptom is a grinding or knocking noise at the joint during operation, which is metal to metal contact where a tight fit has worn loose. A third is a barrier that closes further than it should or stops short of horizontal, because the arm has shifted slightly within the holder’s clamp.
A barrier boom struck by a vehicle, which happens more often than owners admit, can also bend or crack this joint in a single impact rather than gradual wear, and that failure mode needs the part replaced outright rather than readjusted.

Rebalancing the counterweight spring after fitting a new joint
A barrier boom is not a dead weight the motor simply lifts and drops. A counterbalance spring inside the operator carries most of the boom’s weight, and the motor only manages the last part of the movement. When the rotating plate and arm holder are replaced, the exact geometry of that leverage changes by a small but real amount.
Leave the spring on its old tension and the motor either strains to lift the boom, shortening the gearbox’s life, or the boom falls too quickly on closing, which is a genuine safety concern on a barrier crossing a vehicle lane. We rebalance the spring and test the boom through several full cycles by hand before reconnecting the motor, every time this part is replaced.
Fitting a boom arm holder correctly on a Moovi barrier
Beyond the spring rebalancing above, the arm needs setting to the correct angle so it sits fully horizontal when closed and vertical, or close to it, when open. Getting this wrong by even a few degrees either leaves a gap under the boom that defeats its purpose, or stops the boom clearing the passage fully when raised.
We check both end positions under power, not by eye alone, and we test the limit switches still trigger correctly at the new geometry, since a shifted arm position can move where the limit switch actually engages.
Boom arm wear in the Omani climate
Heat expands metal fittings slightly through the day, and a joint already worn loose from cycling shows more play in the afternoon heat of a Muscat or Sohar summer than it does first thing in the morning. Coastal sites in Sohar, Sur and Salalah corrode the clamp bolts and plate fixings faster than inland sites, so we check torque and corrosion on these fittings at every barrier service visit, not only when a fault is reported. Inland at Nizwa and Duqm, blown dust settling into the joint accelerates wear at the bearing surfaces inside the plate.
What is included, and what is not
- One BFT rotating plate
- One BFT arm holder
- Installation instruction manual
Not included: the boom arm itself, the barrier operator, and spring rebalancing labour, which we quote as part of the fitting job. See the BFT ART 90 Q articulated boom, the boom rubber cover, and the full gate barriers range.
BFT barrier spare parts supply and fitting across Oman
We stock boom arm spares alongside barrier boards including the ALPHA BOM and loop detectors such as the RME 1 BT, so a worn joint is usually a same visit repair rather than a full barrier replacement. We cover all eleven governorates: Muscat, Al Batinah North, Al Batinah South, Ad Dakhiliyah, Ash Sharqiyah North, Ash Sharqiyah South, Adh Dhahirah, Al Buraimi, Al Wusta, Dhofar and Musandam.

BFT rotating plate and arm holder FAQ
My barrier boom does not sit level when closed. Is this the part I need?
Often, yes. A boom drifting off level over time is the most common symptom of a worn rotating plate or arm holder. Send us a photo and we will confirm before you order.
Does the spring need adjusting after fitting a new arm holder?
Yes. The new part changes the boom’s leverage slightly, so the counterbalance spring needs rechecking and rebalancing, not left on its old setting.
Does this kit fit both Moovi 30 and Moovi 60?
The listing covers both, though clamp size may differ between them. Confirm your exact barrier model before ordering.
What is the BFT rotating plate and arm holder price in Oman?
OMR 43.000 per kit. In stock, with fitting and spring rebalancing quoted separately.
Do you fit BFT barrier boom arm spares across Oman?
Yes, in all eleven governorates, with our engineers based in Al Khuwair, Muscat.
